When it comes to dating, what drug intake do you tolerate in a relationship?

This is kinda a follow up question, with durgs I mean alcohol, cigarettes, zanny the nanny, weed and any other drug that there is.

Today I met a guy and he was cute and we talked a little and then he pulled out his cigarettes and I was done talking with him lmao
So yeah that's the inspiration behind this questions

Personally I only tolerate the same that I do and that's alcohol but occasionally.
I don't date someone who takes anything else.
With friends and family I do also tolerate cigarettes but not in a partner. I wouldn't kiss that you know... wbu tho

The Fact that many here talk about "no hard Drugs" but tolerate Alcohol to medium and some even to high degrees... that's so hypocritical it gives me World-Depression again...

You dont even differenciate between some People wo do Amphetamine or Methamphetamine/Cocaine SOME Times and between real Addicts who can't control their intake anymore... and Addiction and Consumation of Drugs aren't an expression of "Stupidity"..

The Problem goes MUCH deeper into Human Psychology. Those People get addicted because of hard/unsatisfying Life and Work-Conditions. Especially in the USA where Work and Money is everything, and where social Systems almost doesn't exist...

And what is that Bullshit between "hard and soft" Drugs? Every Substance has ITS OWN RISK-RULES! Just because you can't overdose on Weed doesn't mean that its always better than those "Hard Drugs" (to which Alcohol belongs too, by the way...) for Example: If Heroine wouldn't be so stretched with other Things, then it wouldn't even harm your Body... And if you consume Cocaine not often, AND its clean Cocain-HCL THEN your Body takes little to NO Damage.

IT ALL DEPENDS ON SAFER-USE. NOT on some Anti-Drug-Fight-Propaganda Categorizations of "hard and soft Drugs"... stop accepting this Bullshit from the unsuccessful DEA. xD

Just a little Funfact at the End since i dont wanna overflood everything with Facts about the failed "Anti-Drug-Politic-Propaganda-War":

If Heroine wasn't stretched with other Substances, your Body wouldn't take Harm at all, and you can get 100 Years old healthy, even IF you consume PURE-Heroine daily.

Now to me: I accept every Girl, as long as she isn't heavily addicted WITHOUT a Solution. With my Experience, i can quickly find out in which state she is, and how "far she is into Drug-Problems". Not everyone is "Lost" just because he/she takes Drugs sometimes. Find Solutions and Inform yourself.

If its about Drugs: Just say KNOW! Educate yourself!

to me, it is about the circumstances and the details...

if you are doing "hard drugs" regularly or for fun, then I would not really like to be in that position of being responsible for you... cocaine, meth, crack and so many other things, even if you're abusing painkillers, people can say that is just recreational and that they can handle it, but being that kind of high makes you irresponsible and careless about yourself and also others... so I would be to be responsible for you and I just don't want that kind of thing

alcohol... I don't have a problem if people like to drink and enjoy it, I don't mind if they like to get tipsy and I don't mind if they're a bit enthusiast about certain spirits or whatever and they indulge from time to time and end up drunk every blue moon... but, if their drinking is something they need to do often, like every weekend, and if they need to be OUT OF THEIR SENSES to be fun and to feel happy, I don't want to be with a person like that I just don't enjoy it... and of course, if they need to get drunk, wasted, pissed and blackout because they lack control or that is the way they deal with issues in their lives, then of course I would not want to be involved with that at all

and then smoking, whether is tabaco or weed or something else they smoke... I just hate smoke, it stinks... and it makes you stink and also taste and smell like ashes and all kinds of other putrid chemicals lol, and is not you that will stink, it will be your clothes, your car, your house and eventually me... I don't like to smell like a disease all day and to smell disease everywhere I go or I am with you, lol

kissing a smoker it can be the must revolting thing ever, depends on how much you do it of course but to me that is just no, sorry... I just can't do none of it lol

alcohol: don't care how much he drinks or how often it is if he's with his friends or something. but if we're talking behind closed doors, he can drink everyday but just a little bit to maybe medium level if he's doing it alone. but if he gets actuallu drunk alone more that occasionally that's when it's a turnoff

cigarettes: don't really care that much as long as he doesn't smoke too much. it can be a turnoff if he smokes all the time (like a pack a day). would prefer if it's more an occasional thing

weed: don't care if he does it occasionally but if he's the kind of dude who takes it more than that it's a really big turn off especially if he uses it regularely

xanax/codein/etc.. (pills and stuff that aren't litteraly drugs drugs): don't care if it's not most of the time unless he needs them for actual reasons

other drugs: if it's very occasional that's all good. if it's any more than that really big turnoff unless it's just a bit more often than that and he knows what he's doing and doesn't get me in any problems

- Re alcohol - occasional drinking is fine. If they want to treat themselves with a glass of wine in the evening or a beer while watching football also fine. If they need more than that, then it's not fine and I'm not willing to deal with that.

- Smoking - I don't mind it and can live with it but they need to do it outside only since I want my clothes to smell nice.

- Drugs - no thanks.

I would say longs if they mostly aren't addicts I can tolerate it much but I would say I can have been convinced to be people with who are.
I've had a couple ex's who smoked who are clearly addicted to it. Unlike myself who can social smoke once in a while and never do it again until such occasion happens again which can be months apart for all I care.
Same for drinking.
And would be the same with anything really because my addictive personality don't exist except towards people. Hence to the reason why I can be convinced to be with someone.

Objectivity and Subjectivity go at odds here.
And even though this wasn't the exact question, I wouldn't tolerate someone who thinks weed is bad. Because when someone say's something scientifically flawed and just ignorant that I can be very objective about.
And especially if they say Alcohol is fine but weed ain't, when one is quite more healthy for you and it ain't the one they are saying is fine so it's just straight up hypocritical.
Just wanted to mention that because it is related to my views on drugs.

A little weed at home, some minor social drinking. But I just wouldn't get involved with a guy who did drugs, or drank a lot! It’s actually the reason my dad told me to never let a guy drive me to a first or second date, to always drive myself so that if he was drinking I could just leave in my own car and not be dependent on him or his car driving me home while he’s drunk! But it’s more than just driving, I’ve seen it with friends whose parent’s drink too much! The effect it had on my friends, it was awful. Usually it starts with them not wanting you to ever go to their home, but you can see how someone can go from the greatest day ever, to miserable the second you pull in to their driveway to drop them off. I’d see all joy leave their face as the realization that they are home set in! I NEVER want that for me of my children!

You've made your statement. You don't want a smoker and only tolerate what you consume: occasional alcohol etc.

I one hung out with a smoker but hoped he would quit. He didn't, of course. Otherwise, I've been with non-smokers. I drink occasional alcohol. Maybe a drink or two a week, tops. I smoke cigars on occasion. Nothing daily. Years have gone by and I've smoked none.

I've used weed but none lately. Don't know anyone who has any. Not going to go out looking for it. It it falls on my front porch, OK. Just not that important.

That's it. I dont pop pills or use painkillers or anything else.

Alcohol: Fine as long as you're not an alcoholic.

Cigarettes: Turn-off but not a deal breaker.

Weed: Fine, as long as you have self-control and aren't stoned 24/7. I smoke it myself but not daily.

Hard-drugs: Deal breaker mostly. LSD/Shrooms or MDMA could be a very fun thing to experience together, but it shouldn't be regularly by any means. Like maybe once or twice a year at most. Potentially just a one-time thing. I haven't touched a hard-drug in 4-5 years.

Would an occasional cigar be a turn-off for you too, opposed to smoking regular cigarettes everyday?

No hard drugs. But keep in mind that if someone "used to be" an addict or they're recovering from something they can easily go back to that thing in the future. So just because someone is 100% clean today doesn't mean whey won't be a mess years later.

Cigs only bother me in the sense that it's really bad for the smoker (and I avoid 2nd hand smoke too) but other than that wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Drinking... as long as they aren't doing 'too much'. But that can be a grey area too. Some people just drink a little most of the time and then *boom* they're drinking like fish. You never know.

My level of tolerance for it is probably pretty lax, but I've also been known to experiment from time to time myself. I smoke weed almost every day, but I personally only drink maybe a few times a year. Thanksgiving I'll have a couple whiskey sours that my aunt makes, usually a little wine on my anniversary. Had a drink with an old friend who lives out of state a couple months back. Never anything hugely damaging, like heroine, meth, crack, though I have tried coke a couple times.. I've interacted with too many pill heads to know where that road goes, fuck that. I see nothing wrong with tripping every now and then though. I love a good trip every few years or so

I've been w/guys who did/sold cocaine, marijuana, pills and I've been to trap houses. That is very traumatizing when u get older. I guess that's why I walk on eggshells when my husband gets so drunk b/c I just remember all the cokeheads and heroin addicts I've been around in the past. Stay away from people like that. Please. Stuff like weed, edibles or vape, I’d give em a month to quit before I leave em. But i’d never fully trust they do so its just best i dont date someone whose into any of that stuff

Even though I am clean and sober for12 years at this time I have no issue with my partner practicing light social drinking, and noissue whatsoever with 420.
Anything beyond that and I'm out. Been too close to too many horror stories come true. It's easier for terrible things to happen than lots of people think.

Not tolerating drug use is one of the things that eliminated the majority of potential mates for me in my lifetime because so many people do or have done them.

Moderation in all things. That said I don't like cigarettes. I drink socially and take the rare edible, which is legal here. I can see the value in the use of mushrooms as a trauma therapeutic in a controlled environment, hopefully it will be better studied and legalized.

I tolerate no DRUGS! If you had kids around what kind of example would you set for them. If you allowed certain drugs how long till you slacked off and started hard drugs.

I can tolerate light drinking and up to heavy weed usage but if the guy I’m dating is drinking like half a bottle of vodka or gin or whatever that’s where I’m uncomfortable. Me and my boyfriend drink and smoke together but only a few shots (my uncle died of alcohol poisoning and I wouldn’t want that for anyone else) and I hate the smell on one’s breath after drinking past a certain amount.
