Do people who have had relationships even know when they're being condescending?

I was talking to a friend and he asked me if I liked this one restaurant. I said no because their portions are way too big and he says "Really? You just haven't had a girlfriend yet." Like I get that he means to imply that she takes his food and the big portions mean there's enough for both of them... but still fuck you 🖕
