Any tricks to reach out to a girl you knew a long time ago?

I'm 28 now but I knew a girl I went to summer canoe camp with when I was in high school. I've never had feelings for a girl like her in my entire life and it was just a special time in my life having a great experience hanging out with her in an otherwise lonely, depressing time. But I felt like I had a unique connection with her that I've never had with any girl in my life (though I have been with a fair number of girls). I've thought about her a lot over the years and I always wanted to reach out to her again, but I don't know if she's remembered me at all at this point (been like 13 years I think). Maybe something simple like saying Happy birthday on her Facebook wall and seeing if she remembers me in a month from now I was thinking. Any better ideas? Not set on trying to pursue her but I'd enjoy catching up with her at some point in time and maybe if some Disney type shit happened I wouldn't be opposed ;) Haha. She really was the real deal to me and I'd like to at least be able to talk to her a little bit. Any advice?

I had a friend in college I had not been in contact with in 30 years. We knew each other fairly well. By chance I spotted something about he in a magazine. I went online and found out her email address and I sent her a email out of the blue. I was not sure she would remember me but she did because she emailed me back and attached a picture she had of me. I thought that was really cool.

no advice. funny, a guy like you ever tried to pursue me. he and you got similar situation. the thing is he managed to talk to me. but when he asked for it. I had to turn him down. it was because I knew he have been with a fair number of girls
