One thing I've found with a lot of religious men is they are blind to their own flaws and over value their own value. I used to know a very selfish and heathen like christian guy who thought he had more value then me in dating since he was more athletic then me and had a more generic face while being a lying and a cheater and an ignorant bigot. I knew another guy who thought he was owed an amazing woman because he laboured hard to serve God without realizing that all religious people work hard or are willing to work hard to serve God.
Insecure and seeking confirmation that she liked him too. No way she is in to me...

PUA negging theory. They think if you make a girl insecure she will long for their attention. Probably works sometimes, but at what cost? They don't care because they only think about one thing, and it certainly is not the health or emotional well-being of the lady.

In PUA world it's called negging -intentionally lowering self esteem to 'get' a woman that is very attractive.
It can work... I used to do that a decade ago when I didn't care and wanted one night stands... but it attracts extremely insecure people and you're really playing on those in securities.
At the end of the day if a guy is doing that deliberately he is manipulative or an idiotic teen like I was.
