I believe if you date them it will actually never be love, they just wanna settle. People don't actually change, they change to fit themselves with changing social norms and try to make the best of their current situation.
People do change. They grow up. Things change. Norms change.
If there is still a possibility of a relationship, then why not go for it? If not, why bother thinking about?
Everyone has their own lives. And almost everyone is too busy with their own to think too much about what is going on with you. So, the best policy is to be true to yourself. If you still like them, go out with them. If not, decline politely and get busy with your life.
I always let women make the first move romantically so I usually avoided rejection.
Even when I proposed it was after she had said she was ready to get married and we had already picked out her ring, lol.

That would depend on the situation. Sometimes right person wrong time. But if I was with someone else at the time or the person was mean about the rejection then no.
