i feel like this typically happens when a male customer becomes too interested in a female employee but can also involve women becoming interested in guys or men into other men i guess.
also not sure if restaurants have specific policy or rules for when something like this happens that employees are suppose to follow or not , it can really depend on the establishment.
so typically a male customer becomes interested in the female server , perhaps she was too nice to him , he was desperate or she's just the type of person who generates a lot of interest everywhere she goes in life. its typically seen as ok as long as there is no expectations and he's just friendly about it.
but sometimes expectations still develop and people become too interested in someone who works these sort of positions. which can of course create akwardness and force people to make difficult decisions
sometimes the girl goes along with it but won't ever do anything outside of the restaurant , others find another job and leave , sometimes they'll get another staff member to talk to them and defuse things , some are annoyed but go about day ignoring the person
and assuming in this situation the girl or guy typically has zero interest in dating this person
