If you and your partner switched jobs without training, who would have a harder time?

I saw this question on Facebook and it really got me and my husband thinking

My husband works in a warehouse. He drives a forklift. He does inventory and he handles orders of equipment and shit, I don’t even know lol
I work as a bartender and a server.

I think we’d BOTH crash and burn tbh. I would crash.. literally. I would run the forklift into something and break thousands of dollars of equipment.

And people underestimate how hard food service is. I think people assume “oh you just write down an order and bring food to a table” which yeah is not a hard task by itself. But wait until you get triple sat with two parties of 3 and a party of 4 while you you already have 3 couples at the bar and 10 drink tickets waiting to be made…with zero training? Good luck 😋

Plus it’s Olive Garden, we have unlimited soup and salad. Y’all don’t even understand how much of a nightmare unlimited soup and salad is… and I think OG is one of the more difficult chain restaurants to work at because of it.

Also my husband doesn’t work with customers anymore for a reason. Dealing with the public, especially the HUNGRY public, is trash. A lot of food customers are going straight to hell. They’re assholes.

My husbands an asshole too lol. So one customer would give him attitude and he would probably tell them to go fuck themself. Immediate termination 💀

We are both teachers, but he is a high school teacher and I am a kindergarten teacher. I can’t see him being able to handle 5 minutes of 26 kindergarten students. It would 100% be a scene from Kindergarten Cop. And I definitely can’t deal with a room full of raging teenage hormones that smells like Axe body spray, with students making out against the lockers in the hallway. I think I would go crazy!

We would both crash and burn, that’s for sure.

I think we would both get each other fired pretty quickly. If he got my vacation time I would get him fired first. I have five weeks and he has four: we both have the same amount of sick time. We both work for the same bank/company but we are in completely different areas. I could never do his job and he can’t do mine so it would come down to who ran out of vacation and sick time first

My wife is a homemaker, cleans the house, walks the dogs, makes most of our meals. I'm sure I could muddle through as I know the basics, how to cook and clean. I wouldn't like it but I could do it.

Me, on the other hand, program and create digital art. I think she could handle the art, but she doesn't program.

We'd both have a hard time. I'd have to learn all the details of being a server (my memory sucks!) and she would have to resolve technical issues in complex designs.

Having said that, I could probably fake my way as a server better than she can fake being an engineer.

Probably about equal tbh. I know a lot about what my husband does at work. Often times hang out at his office and he shares info with me so I could go do a day in his shoes without much issue.

He has stayed home and knows about what I do with the kids for the most part. He would struggle to keep up with all their different schedules and appointments tho.

I think we would both suck. I have no knowledge on bodywork repair really so would probably make a huge disaster of it all…he would have some car knowledge for my sales job but he is not good at working with customers and would know nothing about the sales process, marketing, GDPR and so on

I work as a Network Administrator and my wife is a Physical Therapist. She knows next to nothing about computers and technology. I have been a gym rat all my life and have worked through all kinds of physical injuries including a total hip replacement. I think I would have the easier time faking it.

He would. We work in the same facility but he’s a correctional officer and I’m a counselor. I think I could do his job better than he could do mine. No disrespect, it’s just a bigger learning curve and he doesn’t have educational background for it. You could put a uniform on me and I know enough about prison culture and daily operations to bluff my way through it.

She works in healthcare. Even though I can connect with most elderly people. I couldn’t do it all day!
