There was a guy last semester. I became so fascinated by him instantly. He was incredibly smart and extremely outspoken which can be a turn off for some people but I loved it. He made me want to learn more.
It was a smaller class and he always sat across from me ( the professor made us sit in a circle ).
We would always exchange glances and while he was talking he would always look at me. He spoke out all the time which encouraged me and I said a lot of things in class. My opinion was always welcomed and after I did a presentation and he answered my questions and after it he clapped which this one guy, he didn’t clap for after.
I was smiling at him once while he was joking with someone else and he kept looking back at me and smiling. We also would joke around a lot once we were talking about this lady on a train who did coke and I guessed coke and he was like “yep you got it” and we both laughed.
I had a boyfriend and he had a girlfriend which is why I think he never made a move. Although he didn’t mention her until one day where he tried to small talk a little and I said I was gonna go call my boyfriend and after I came back he mentioned his relationship in class for the first time and how it was long distance which caused problems. Also everytime he mentioned her he mentioned how horrible her family was and how he hated them.
Also once he stopped one of his rlly smart opinion rants on a novel we were reading in class and paused and looked at me and was like “weren’t you gonna say something. I think you were.”
Before class once I saw him in the hallway and we made eye contact and I said hi and he kinda smiled I think but didn’t say anything.
Fast forward now we’re back from winter break with new classes and I saw him in the hallway again today while I was on the phone. He walked near me and we made eye contact and he smiled and waved at me and I did the same.
How do I reconnect with him? We don’t have any classes this semester but have classes in the same building.

Do you think he was ever interested?
Everyone is interested it's just how interested are they? Are they interested enough to take a risk and say hello? Put yourself in his shoes and similar circumstance. Did you ever see something you were interested in and just had to have it? Maybe it was a special fast food meal that came out and you waited for 30 minutes to get it. You know how that feels. Did he feel that way about you if he wasn't willing to wait in line? No. probably not.
