Is it weird that I am developing an attraction to a family friend?

So an old family friend of my mother's got back in touch with me recently. This family friend also happens to be my godfather. Our families are pretty close, and I've been close with my godfather ever since I was a child. I met his daughter for the first time ages ago, when I was in my early 20s finishing uni and she was a teenager/preteen. I wasn't attracted to her back then obviously even though she is objectively good-looking, I saw her as a little sister-type figure if anything. I also barely knew her. I had a long-term girlfriend at the time.

Well, recently, I met her again at a family function and we got along well. She's now 25 (I'm 6 years older) and I found her very attractive. I also noticed her flirting with me (I think) and we seem to have some things in common. I'm currently single, and just enjoying the single life. But would it be creepy/weird if I tried to get to know her better? How should I approach I? Would her father beat me up for even trying? I don't know if mine or her family would approve of it for numerous reasons. But I felt something there. She is just my type.

No, it's not "creepy." You would only be being creepy if you'd always wanted her ever since she was a teen and you were a young adult, and now that she's older you're seizing the opportunity.

It doesn't sound like that's the case at all. So I would go ahead. Are you sure she is interested back? I would just try to be absolutely certain before doing anything about it, because it could have bad implications if she isn't and she tells her Dad you came onto her.

I don't know how you would break it to her Dad even if something happened between you two. Is he uptight? Traditional? What's he generally like as a person? Does he trust you?

Nah, you're fine. Just go about it in a cautious and respectful way. Don't make overt passes at her, especially in front of the family. It would be better if she made the first move actually, then u can gauge how to /[not] move forward.

Attraction can come from the most surprising places and it doesn't always make sense. As long as it isn't an inappropriate attraction, like to someone who is married or 45 years old than you, why not embrace it?
