Do men offer to pay for dates to test women?

Even though they offer, do they want women to say no? Because I feel like if a woman accepts the offer, men will complain she didn’t decline. Like, men don’t actually mean what they say.

Some guys want a women that can stand on her own two feet. Figure out what sort of man you want and what sort of woman you are. Act accordingly.

No. I mean I appreciate the offer to pay from her. It tells me a bit about her politeness. But I never expect a woman to pay. So no I never consider it a strike against her. If I can't afford both of us I'm not asking her out.
