So I think rich usually wed other rich people. It’s more middle and working class who seem to intermarry, but I could be wrong.
They absolutely can. I agree with your last statement that it's more usually that the middle and working classes intermarry, but an upper class person (snob or not) can and do fall in love with those from different classes.

Yes, but it tends to be rare because social circles start in youth so we tend to have friends from close to the same economic level.
