Guys, why do some men not let their woman be alone when crying?

If I was really angry and upset my ex would hold me tight on his lap until I strated crying like a baby.. I wasent allowed to be alone or evan hide my face.. why is that? It made me so upset I couldn't leave.

I have a history of hurting myself but that will only get worse if I can't be alone..

Why would you ever do something this EVIL? You do it to embarass her?

I hold her down if she is hysterical (comment why please)

Non voted "i would never do that to anyone".. I dont think men realize how angry it makes us when they do this. Its humiluating and evan if she might self harm thats her choice as an adult.

Oh sure, we realize that might be good for you. It might be what you need, and perhaps in a way what you want. But our own instinct is telling us to not leave until you're all better.

Unlearning instinct is not easy and perhaps not always good. I'd leave if she truly wished me to do so. It is about her in that instance after all. That doesn't make it easy, and sometimes listening to someone isn't the best option either.

It depends on the situation.

However in my experience someone with a history of self harm as a coping mechanism telling me to leave them alone during a breakdown, is just asking me to let them go hurt themselves.

It's like a recovering alcoholic assuring you that letting them tend your liquor cabinet is fine and if you don't let them, they'll only want to drink more. It doesn't make any sense.
