Should we just be friends for awhile?

so I'm in 9th grade and she's in 8th grade and she got expelled like a while ago for fighting and stuff. I just found out she hasn't done any school work in like 3 to 4 months and I don't know how I feel about being a sophomore dating an 8th grader cause I already got shit for being a freshman dating an 8th grader. I really love and care for this girl a lot. I even offered to do some of her work to try and get her caught up but she refuses to let me help her. I just don't know what to do I think she's the one it's just she'll probably have to repeat 8th grade and I just don't know what that means for our relationship or what I should do

Son focus on your studies, girls will always be here, you'll find all the little petty stuff you focus on now won't mean anything after achool, stay away from bullys and crap kids that only want to goof off

the thing is I already do stay focused on my studies she knows that sports and stuff are important to me and that I feel like I'm gonna be good enough to be D1 basketball or track and understands that stuff is important to me and this girl is perfect. I'm just worried if we be just friends for awhile that she'll find someone else
