He was so sweet at first but the longer we are together the more he tells me my views of the world are wrong, Im comparing him to people in my past when I tell him how I feel about something. I am a lot better off than him and it’s starting to feel like I’m being used.

I always say discuss each other's finances openly and honestly before even thinking of marriage. If he is close to your age I would hit those necessary questions fast. Stating he has no credit could mean either he is old school and does not believe in doing his finances online, but why ask for a loan as he should have a ton of cash saved up to pay off anything he buys in one go... OR... "Alarms start ringing" he has not taken responsibility in paying off his past debts. If he didn't pay those bills what makes you think he will pay ones in your name? Hmm, you are 41, is he similar age? People in your age range should have their lives together. What would he have done for a car otherwise?

I can see situations where a middle aged person could end up without the resources to get a car without it in any way being their fault - but they should be working on fixing that.
