Would you date someone who has no sense of humor?

Question

Recently, one of my friends started dating this man from her faculty. She is a student in the philosophy department and he studies mathematics. He literally does not get involved in any daily conversations or understand jokes made through them. He is only into numbers and jokes about maths. I don't know why she likes him tho. I would never be able to date a man who never makes jokes or doesn't laugh when I do one. Wouldn't it be so boring to do so?

I love every emotion I need to feel every emotion and I like to speak every emotion LOL..

I need to laugh and I will usually say something it is so stupid it's funny just to lighten things up or just because I need to laugh or somebody needs to laugh

There's no way in this world I could ever be serious all the time

I would not even like myself if I had to be that way

All somebody has to do is save something that can mean one or two things and I'm going to twist the words around and it's going to be funny I think we all need to laugh it's part of life it's part of relaxation and showing people who you are

It is possible that he might have autism. One of the things autistic people can have is not understanding jokes, and also really being into numbers and math. That may be his issue.

I like a woman who knows how to laugh and who can make me laugh too, so a sense of humor is a must for me in a relationship.

Math jokes and number jokes are awesome.

Math is like another language. Once you learn to understand it, the humour has its own sort of merit and experience.

Just because you don't like your friend's boyfriend, doesn't mean she doesn't like him.

You are not dating him. So why do you care?

I cannot. I'm generally known as a funny person, my humor is one of the first things my boyfriend noticed in me and said that I'm funny, you think I'll settle for a boring person?

I don't like people who make jokes at the expense of others though. That's where I draw the line.

It depends on their style of humor. Some people have a sense of humor but its cruel/dark humor. I couldnt date someone into that. I need someone into the same light-hearted corny type of humor. In the guys case above, he needs someone into brainy humor

well it sounds like he has a sense of humor that is just different from yours or possibly your friends.

it may be hard to be in a relationship with a very different sense of humor but perhaps they have enough that connects them in other ways that their different senses of humor is not a big issue

Nope, gotta be able to make me laugh and get my sense of humor cause I can be sarcastic and it’s no fun if he takes everything seriously or personally. But just because he doesn’t seem to have any personality doesn’t mean that they don’t click, there could be something there that you don’t see, not everyone is compatible.

I couldn't date a guy with no sense of humor or the one who doesn't share my type of humor. I literally can't stand those guys who make blatantly sexual jokes (but I enjoy the ones with almost unnoticeable sexual undertone) or the ones with inappropriate dark or lame humor. My type of humor is random silly phrases being said, weird, quirky and strange humor, sarcasm and irony. I don't mind dark humor and self jokes if done well.

No, because my life has been VERY unorthodox... a serious struggle. Life has ENTIRELY TOO MANY bullshit struggles publicly daily... so in private behind closed doors I'm the exact opposite of the way I am in public. I want to be myself in private, and enjoy times I can't publicly. Many people have stated in surprise that the way I am with animals and kids isn't what they expected.
