The mom of an ex I dated by LDR and there’s a possibility of we date again in the future his mom texted me after 3 months not talk. I’m confused?

There is a guy (my ex) who I have "dated" in the past by long distance although I never met his family in person and we are not dating anymore but there is a possibility of we date again in the future and in person if I move to his country next year once I finish my studies overseas. His mom and I we are friends on Facebook but his mom hasn't talked to me for 3 months since we (she and I) last talk. His mom and I we are not close but yesterday his mom suddenly sent a message at 9pm her time on Facebook Messenger after 3 months not talking saying:

"I'm off to bed. Just wanted to say hi and tell you that I'm proud of you. I'm so busy with work right now I don't know what day it is
half the time.
Loves and hugs from far far away 🦋”

She hasn’t talked to me for 3 months, so why would she SUDDENLY send me a RANDOM message like that AFTER 3 MONTHS if she doesn't talk to me regularly/she's not close to me as a close friend? AND BEFORE GOING TO BED! What was the purpose behind such a random unexpected message after 3 months as my ex’s mom?

But that’s the reason why I’m confused, bc I’m not going after him. We don’t talk. We are just “friends” and his mom (who I also don’t talk to) texted me out of nowhere after 3 months not talking. She came to me. I didn’t go after her or my ex so it’s not a desperation move on my end. She texted me as I said above and I got confused.
