Why doesn’t he want to make it official?

I’ve been dating someone for 6 months now and today I brought up possibly making it official and he said he likes where we are at now and isn’t ready to label it. His reasoning was because his last relationship was toxic and he likes the freedom of being able to go out whenever he wants for however long and not having someone to answer to. I then asked are you seeing other people or wanting to then? And he said no his happy with me the whole not making it official isn’t about other people it’s just the freedom of it. I understood but now I’m in my head about it all.

I personally think that if you like someone enough you’d want to make it official and that it’s kind of an excuse whether it’s maybe subconscious or not but maybe there’s something about me that he doesn’t like so his subconsciously making an excuse to not be with me. (eg maybe I’m not physically his type so he doesn’t want to make me his girlfriend because then I’ll have to meet his family friends etc or something along those lines)

To give more context we talk every day, I see him every week, we have our regular date spot and he comes out with me and my friends. So basically we act like a couple but he doesn’t want to label it.

Am I over thinking? What are your thoughts?

Some people don't want to make it official. Don't force it, just carry on as if you are official.
