My boyfriend called my cat "ugly" and says animals gross him out. Red flag?

My cat is my baby, and he is far from ugly. He looks a little like this:

He's also got the sweetest temperament. He always goes up to strangers and purrs/brushes against them and is very friendly. Anyway, my new boyfriend met my cat. He says pets gross him out and he's never wanted a cat. He said he had cats as a kid and "their eyes are gross".

He met my cat the other day and said "he's ugly". Is this a red flag? Or am I being a little judgmental of my new boyfriend?

Not a red flag as some people are genuinely not an animal person. I personally am not an animal person. Grew up around them and now as an adult. I'm just not interested in having any more pets. Not being an animal person also doesn't mean the person will hurt the animal either

I wouldn't date someone who hated my pets. Last time someone who hated my cat came around, she kicked him. So I kicked her out.

Stating how I feel/think about you isn't insulting. Insult - speak to or treat with disrespect. Expressing how I think and feel isn't an insult. By its very definition, something is only an insult if the persons intention is to insult. It's easy to get confused the way you did with your limited perspective.
