Limerance for past hookup?

So long story short, i had a drug induced psychotic episode three years ago from 🍄and there was this guy that I was in love with during this time. Prior to that we had talked for nearly four years and we never saw eachother in person we only sent pictures and dirty talked. He would always say he’s too busy with work.

Fast forward to now and I’m in a relationship with a guy that has no idea that I’m still thinking about this person and I would occasionally check his profile to see that he had a new girlfriend until i recently blocked him out of guilt and wanting to move on.

Obviously when that all went down he had no idea what was wrong with me and definitely thought I was nuts. So I told him to block me if he didn’t want to talk anymore which he did.

My question is… why am I still thinking about him like this and should I tell my boyfriend. I don’t think he wants anything to do with me but there’s a feeling I have that’s like I need to date around and make sure before I continue dating the current person I’m with.

It doesn’t help that my current relationship our sex life has been nonexistent.

Whoa girl, that's some heavy stuff you've been dealing with. Don't be so hard on yourself - we all make mistakes, and it sounds like you went through a really rough time.

As for this guy, it makes sense you'd still think about him sometimes if you never got real closure. But you gotta let it go now. Checking his profile is only gonna make it harder to move on.

I get the feeling of wanting to make sure before committing, but dating around now probably ain't the move. That'll just end up hurting your current boyfriend for no good reason. If there are issues in your relationship, a real talk with him is better than sneaking around.

Maybe try opening up to your boyfriend about how you're feeling disconnected. Give it time to work on reconnecting intimately and emotionally before writing it off. Counseling could also help sort your feelings out.

And give yourself time, girl! Healing takes work - be patient with yourself. You've got this. Just take it one day at a time, and don't be so hard on yourself for past mistakes. Keep your head up! 😊
