I'm just curious to know, can someone here please help me with planning out my journey to getting out there? I live in New York and I'm thinking about joining a language group not exclusively for dating, but to broaden my horizons and meet new people. I LOVE meeting new people and being able to talk to them, help them, support people who are very good to me. I'm always grateful for people that see me for who I am.

I live in New York and I'm currently 23, single, and a virgin. I've never had a girlfriend before and I'm interested in meeting new people just to see who I can get along with. I just hope that there is someone out there that will appreciate me for who I am above all else. Who will see that I'm doing my best to help as many people as I can and that I have a good heart.

" I'm thinking about joining a language group"
Not sure what you mean by this. I teach English (ESL) on the side. Recently I started going to the ESL events at the library. A native speaker would be welcome. It's a good way to meet a lot of people from different places. I've met a number of Asian women this way, and may end up in a long term relationship with one.
You can check your local libraries and churches. There are a lot of both that give free group ESL lessons. I have not been to any of the church ESL groups, but I don't think they get preachy.
A lot of these people will want to continue talking to a native speaker after the class is over. English learners can't get enough of it, and will usually want to spend time with native speakers.
Thank you so much for this! I have also been thinking about Asian women in New York wanting to learn English. Do you know how I could find events to attend?
Check the library web site. If it's anything like where I live there will also be a lot of churches doing it.
I'll definitely take a look. I think it's a good thing that I'm confident and I want to put myself out there. It's something that despite being autistic, is something that I am truly passionate about. I love spending time with people and having fun, helping people too is something that makes me feel happy.
NYC is big enough that they probably have ESL at several branches. They will be at different levels, and probably have both formal classes, and more casual meetings for advanced learners. The casual meetings are what I just started doing at the library. Before that I was doing one-on-one tutoring.
You can role play. For example restaurant talk. Teach them questions and response. Can you imagine living in NYC and losing out on all that good food because you aren't confident in the language?
How many in your party?
Would you like a table or a booth?
Are you ready to order?
Do you want lemon in your tea?
etc
They need CONFIDENCE with the language. Once they are confident role playing, go to the restaurant with them.
Hang out in China town... Attend classes at some sort of Asian cultural museum. Often Asians enroll in courses like that in their youth. Their parents often want them to learn their own culture and remember where they come from.
I'm also open to dating anyone who is kind, understanding, and able to accept me for who I am. It doesn't have to just be exclusively an Asian girl or woman, but I just find them to be very attractive and I want to be able to show someone that I'm a naturally compassionate guy. I'm very proud of that.
Where I grew up in south Florida, we have the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. They hold lessons like Taiko Drumming Workshops where people attend weekly to learn about the cultural practice. You have Asians and others that attend the workshops and participate in local cultural events. I'm sure they do stuff like that all over the country. You often see young men and women that are late teens to early/mid 20s doing those sorts of activities.

I feel like the sheer diversity of New York is a plus for the kind of dating that I want to do. There's everyone here of all descents, they named this city "The soulmate of the world."
"The soulmate capital of the world." Also do you think I could look into workshops or maybe join a college club?
You want to meet Asian girls? Come here to Asia there are a plethora of them , work your way though the various countries online , I live in Thailand , plan a trip here , there must be a website for meeting Asian women in NYC too.
There's a lot of Asian women in New York as well. I won't be able to travel yet, but I feel like I should join a group or something when I have time.
Sure , there are a plethora , find a website to meet in NYC and just meet all the ones you fancy , hopefully they are not full on USA Asians , and just work it from there , country by country.
Here are some suggestions by a few people:
- Cultural Workshops
- ESL classes
- Bars (not for me)
- Library
I wouldn't do any of those , too much wasting time , cut it straight to the chase.
