Saw this girl I used to go college with back in 2009 on Tinder, we’ve been facebook friends since then.
We flirted a lot on Facebook around then and have spoken in person but I never asked her out (as I was very shy back then). Now I’m the complete opposite.
This past week since rejoining Tinder, I’ve been changing my preferences so she doesn’t pop up as part of me wanted to swipe right but kept overthinking would it be awkward.
Anyway tonight I thought screw it I’ll just swipe right, to my surprise I get the “you matched” screen. Always thought she was gorgeous and down to earth, but over the years either of us were usually with someone.
Now I’m always the type to message on the app, take it to whatsapp/text then go on a few dates before social media…
Would it be okay to send her a Facebook message (over messenger) due to already having her on it? We haven’t spoken for at least 10 years though.

Hey man, I wouldn't message her directly on Facebook yet since it's been so long. Even though you've been friends that whole time, reaching out randomly after 10 years could come across as odd or creepy. Since you matched on Tinder, I'd say continue the conversation there first. Exchange a few messages to catch up, get some friendly banter going and make sure there's still a vibe. Then if things seem to be clicking, you can suggest exchanging numbers or adding each other on other platforms like FB. Going slow and giving her a chance to warm up is better than jumping straight to another social media. Once you've chatted for a bit and confirmed the interest is there on both sides, then mentioning catching up more on FB could work. But for now let the match lead naturally on Tinder first before making any other moves so she doesn't feel weirded out by an old friend messaging out of the blue.
I personally would stick with Tinder to begin with. Oliverlogan263 couldn’t have said it better. Even if you have history with her, things have changed quite a lot. Why not use Tinder as a segway to catch up, then if things go well, take it off of Tinder. Personally as a girl, I would prefer to keep things on Tinder for a bit until I’m comfortable again / we picked up where we left off.
yes, that would have benefits can see each other better
