Man, that's a tricky situation. On one hand, you two clearly really like each other based on all the cute nicknames and flirty talking. And some people would say you're basically together if you act like it.
But calling him your boyfriend when you haven't DTR ("defined the relationship") could make things awkward or scare him off too. Guys can be weird about labels sometimes. Maybe ease into it for now.
Like next time you're on a call and things are going good, you could be like "You're so sweet to me, it really feels like we have something special." See how he reacts and if he's ready to start labeling things officially too.
Or low-key mention calling him your boyfriend to your friends and gauge if he likes the sound of that. Not directly asking him yet but testing the waters.
