Sporty or high-achieving guys, would you only date high-achieving sporty girls?

I'm curious about how you'd view someone with hobbies on a totally different side of the spectrum. For example, if you were a competitive rock climber or swimmer, would you date a girl who wasn't? Would you be dissatisfied if she was decently active or willing to try these things with you, but wasn't much good? Or would you end up seeking out a girl who was on your same level in that area?

I have a guy friend who always dates girls who are the complete opposite of him and another guy friend who wants a girl who does the exact same things as him and is at his exact same level of achievement. So I was wondering what the general view is for most of you?

If you were dating a girl who wasn't like you, would you still be able to admire/desire her if her strengths lay in other areas?

Hmm good question. I tend to date girls I’m compatible with, usually a common interest, I’ve dated sporty girls that mirrored me a bit. I have also dated girls that are full on academics and really intelligent (cryptography degree courses etc). I did date a girl that was into white water canoeing / kayaking, zero chance of me even trying it, she also did not like any running over 5km. I don’t think I could deliberately look for someone that is exactly the same or 100% opposite, would be a bit ocd. I don’t mind sporty and I don’t mind non sporty really.
im not sure I have a specific type other than someone fit and intelligent (not necessarily education intelligent).

Makes sense. Like, for me, I'm more artistic than sporty, but for some reason, I'm not attracted to the guys who like the exact same things as me; in this case, writing/reading. I prefer him to be into something different in the arts, like photography, sculpting, painting, etc. So it always confuses me a bit when guys say the want a girl who does everything they do.

Personally unless you get on with other things it would be a bit boring. I like variation, for example I’m good at photography but totally suck at painting, I would be interested though.

Yeah, I think so too. Variety is good. I worry a bit about myself too, honestly, because I've always preferred any guy I'd date to be somewhat sporty or at least involved in the gym because physical health and fitness are important to me. I mean, I'm pretty active in a general sense, though not out of the common way, and I like trying new things, but I wouldn't say my greatest strengths lie in things like sports, so I have trouble imagining a guy interested in those areas would be able to respect/admire a girl who wasn't near his level in it. I don't know, I guess we're all individuals.

That last bit is what makes everything so much fun, we are individuals and should respect that, not look for better versions of ourselves in others. Apart from that I would be terrible dating me lol

I'm not into sports, but I am probably considered high-achieving. I would make sure that we have plenty in common before anything serious. If sports were her identity, I don't think we'd be compatible.
