Disagree. It’s important in order to initially attract someone, but it’s not the most important aspect. I’ve been on dates with guys who were physically attractive, but god, their personalities were insufferable. If you’re only “dating” in order to get laid, then physical looks are the most important thing - no one cares about your personality if you’re just being viewed as a piece of meat. But if you’re dating in order to find a relationship, then physical looks is not the most important thing.

Look is the first impression of course. People lie if they say the first thing they like about a stranger is their personality. However, to be into a healthy romantic relationship requires more than that. If look is the only important trait, then how come a lot of attractive people get cheated by their partners?

Not exactly. The people who care that much are either young-minded or shallow and worry about how other people view their partner. Real adults can agree that attraction is important but being compatible is what matters most. You can have an absolute knockout of a woman that you love having on your arm, love having sex with because she’s gorgeous and etc but after about 2 months you learn that she’s obnoxious, vain, spending all your money or seeing other men behind your back. She’s immature, isn’t loyal, sucks with communication. These are just examples of how you can be incompatible outside of physical attraction.

Caring about looks isn't shallow. Its when that's the only thing you care about that makes it shallow. But the initially looks spark the interests and personality keeps. But without looks the spark never happens

Prioritizing looks above all else is definitely shallow. As your title states: most important part of dating. If at any point, even just the beginning, looks are most important then that kind of priority will keep you single. Not saying you specifically, fyi.
