Depending on which terms the relationship ends, it might end the friendship between you mother and her bestie. There is not many things that are worse than to be suddenly the enemy of your best friend because you and her know a number of things about each other that they may want to spill out in public.

I don't see any problem with it, as ling as they don't pressure you into doing something you don't want to do. If you're attracted to her then why not? Maybe they're right. The only time I think that's a problem is if the parents are too pushy or if they want to control your love life. If my parents wanted me to meet a girl who they thought would be a good match I wouldn't turn them down.
