I can't see that happening.
25 years ago, I was involved in another online community and I was writing technical articles, and they got enough visibility that I ended up corrosponding with experts from all over the world, and they helped me out with research and data that I'd never had had access to otherwise, and even got invited to a tech conference that I didn't feel qualified for. But I also started talking to a girl who had written some related articles, and eventually we worked on several big articles together.
Around this time, she had a bad knee injury - I didn't know how at the time, but the result of that was that she was going to be in the Bay Area for a while for her knee, so I got an opportunity to meet her.
If someone had scanned my brain and designed a girl with my ideal features, they couldn't have done much better than her. And we'd already been working together virtually for over a year, and we had many things in common. HOWEVER, I came to learn, over the next few weeks, that she was incredibly wealthy, and from an even wealthier family that had been European bankers for many generations. She'd gone to the best schools in Europe, and she'd injured her knee in a collision playing polo. She'd been a riding champion since she was about 8 years old. And she was getting reconstructive knee surgery at Stanford University Medical Center, which is where I met her initially.
I come from a family that just barely clawed it's was up into the middle class. Her family has houses on 5 continents and has several jets to move around with. I met her brother, and every single thing about him screamed "old money". They didn't flaunt money with big chains or flashy cars, but one of the houses was $8-10M 25 years ago, given it's location. And they thought nothing of traveling anywhere in the world whenever they felt like going - just a phone call to see when a plane would be ready for them.
As much as I liked this girl, I knew that being with her would be impossible. I couldn't imagine her family ever accepting me, and there's no way I could hope to approach her lifestyle, and even though she could have bought me a very nice car and never missed the money, I can't see how I could have ever accepted such a gift. And if not from her, who could I accept it from? I don't think I could accept it from anyone. It just feels wrong.
Since my car got repoed 5 months after getting ran over, hell yeah.
lol.
What for? I would be wondering why would he even give me a car if I can't drive. Secondly, is there a catch to all this? What if we break up, then is he going to want it back? Is he testing me to see if I'm a golddigger?
With the exception of your own parents or other close family members, no one gives you an expensive, valuable gift for free. They will expect something in return.
Is he gonna ask for it back if we break up?
Yup 🤣🤣🤣
Pawn it before he gets the chance.

I would actually consider it an insult and get mad.
Unless they are a jillionaire, that is too much and a potential warning sign.
No! But I did give my boyfriend (now fiancé) a new car for Christmas. We had been a couple for only 8 months at that point. What I did not know was that prior to me buying him the car, he had secretly visited my parents to ask the both for permission to ask me to marry him. OMG, my dad respected the hell out of him for doing that, and my mom… holy crap, she was positively shocked (in a good way). So a few weeks later when I asked them if the thought that buying Lee a car for Christmas would be a good idea, since he’d never owned a car, he was too poor, and saved every penny he ever made for college. They were both like “Yes! Absolutely yes!”. I gave him the car (well, I gave him the key. The car was hidden in the garage. My dad and brother pushed it out into the driveway right before we exchanged gifts. He asked me to marry him right after Christmas dinner with my family and his family there. It was beautiful! It was just one of those things where we just knew it. My parents were married 3 months after they first met.
Laura. 🤗 🥰
A friend bought me a car and we never dated. Friends buy friends things. It is not a big deal.
If it were an under-appreciated classic that sat unused for decades but was fairly rust-free and straight, and didn’t need too much work to be roadworthy again, then yes.
I would only accept a new “car” if I won it in a contest. Then I would sell it at a steep discount, or if the circumstances were right, give it to someone in need.
My view, Coach... a good Friend' that I have known for many years as an work associate, gave me a hand made leather jacket (she had it made in Florence, Italy. I thought that was a HUGE gift !!! So a car would be over the top.
what would be the difference between accepting at six months... versus eight months
besides, the two months... of course, lol
None 🤣
my friends gave me a car after four or five years... lol
I was given a car by a woman I'd only spent a weekend with. To be fair we did end up having a protracted summer fling, but I didn't know that would happen at the time. I didn't want to deal with the upkeep though, so I politely declined.
What pathetic simp would give someone sexual target a car? Wow.
Sure, and if we break up and he wants it back. He can have it since I don't really value or get attached to anything that seriously lol.
No you can guarantee they're going to put you on the spot with a proposal next and it would be awkward to say no.
The notion of a "gift" is inherently tainted, as sooner or later they'll be wanting something in return. Nobody gives away something for nothing.
I would question why someone would want to give me a car; but if he/ she is hellbent on gifting me a car, well... I won't look a gifted horse in the mouth
Well i can't drive so won't be of any use to me...
But even if i was driving i think i would only accept it from someone who i m really close with... i won't be comfortable accepting it from someone i m dating only for a little while
Fuck yeah and I would document the hell out of the fact it was a gift so I could keep it after the break up
I'd try to refuse it but by the time they are handing over the keys, it is far too late.
Waaaaay too much. Even after a few years, I'd be uncomfortable taking something so expensive.
Absolutely not, if we were married, sure, but just dating, that's too much. Unless said car was 3k or under and I didn't have a car.
No, you never know how much something costs until you start paying for it
No. This is the same thing as telling a child not to accept candy from a stranger. Too many people will use gifts as a way to dig their claws in. The pricier the gift, the bigger the red flag.
I mean if my date would rashly give me that kind of date, then i can boldly ask her about the conditions to know her motives. Something would be fishy if she'd hesitate in answering all of it so I wouldn't accept it.
No, too much…. It would honestly put too much pressure on me and would probably break up to tell you the truth.
After 25 years of marriage maybe, not for 6 months of dating.
Nope. It's too much.
lol at that picture, but he’s got the right shirt on Miami hurricanes
If a woman wants to buy me a car, I'm going to be wearing her vagina like a gas mask every night
No. I wouldn't accept that from anyone with any relationship status. Even if they were a billionaire. I'll take a nice dinner, here and there, though.
It's too much, it would make every gift you got them seem insignificant, even though the gift you get them may have more meaning behind it.
You guys complain about gifts then complain you can’t afford groceries. So damn confusing
You're talking about two different men. Like if i say you girls complain about not getting gift but decided to be a "strong independent woman" who needs no men.
It’s a relative. A car to a billionaire might be a cup of coffee to a mere mortal.
No never I'll buy my own things and that is way too much
Nope. I can't be bought with gifts.
A woman that can be bought isn't worth having
That's insane. Way too much and way too early.
Its a free car. Why are we discussing this?
No; I don't think that would be appropriate.
Absolutely, as long as there were no payments
No I wouldn't.
No way. All gifts have strings.
I need a new car regardless of how long I’ve been with someone. Who wouldn’t want a free car?
Heck ya!
Yes I would.
No that is too much
I hope it's less possibility unless dowry
