He tried to kiss me and I backed away because I didn't think that I was ready and for the rest of the day he didn't talk to me and before he left he said bye to every one else but me is he mad or no?and another reason I didn't kiss him was because he is my older brothers friend

If he's mad that you didn't kiss him, there's a problem. He is not ENTITLED to a kiss. So don't feel bad. He either respects your decision, or he doesn't. There is no middle ground.
