I do want to add there a lot of awesome people who do tip and it's so appreciated. Honestly I think pizza places should keep track of those who don't tip and refuse to deliver. They can get off their cheap ass and spend their gas money to come get their order.

I had a relative who never tipped. I hated going to restaurants with them as I was always concerned that they had been there before and the wait staff knew them and would retaliate.

As a guy who delivered in college, I'd say you have to be a total idiot to not pay without tips delivery drivers lose money as iThe milage they give doesn't cover the cost of driving your own vehicle, not by a long shot. You are basically stealing their time and work. I will say I never messed with anyone's food, I would put them at the bottom of the list when busy so I would expect poor service at least. I know drivers that would mess with your order in disgusting ways. Don't tip, you might get an @$$ pie (I won't explain that phrase, you don't want to know)

Only the middle-class tip. Poor people either can't afford it or won't succumb to losing money over peer pressure nonsense, and rich people are the ones making tip culture in the first place (and they also don't tip).

Tip culture is only a thing in the United States. Other countries actually pay their employees a fair wage, and the big problem with it is that managers are the problem, yet customers are the ones obligated to pony up the cash and empty out their wallets to be punished for it.

When I was dirt poor but still an adult, ordering out food was only a thing every 3-4 months because I was too broke to be ordering out to begin with and pizza places don't take EBT cards. I would never order anything more than $15 anyway, and would only order from places that were too far to get to by foot (since I didn't own a car, either) and had delivery fees that weren't more than $2.
If somebody ever wanted me to dine in at a restaurant, I told them I don't tip and would not be doing it, so I'd rather not go. One time, someone agreed to these terms, but then expected me to tip afterwards anyway, and I told them no and if they asked me again, they'd be paying for the whole dinner, their and my portion, themselves.

Trying to calculate percentages and having this "18 to 25 percent minimum" is also f*cking aggravating. I wonder who came up with that? Couldn't be the managers, could it?

Any place that tried to do an unadvertised "included gratuity" (usually 25 to 30%) never got a single dime from me, and I'd even make a Yelp account solely for the purpose of leaving them one star.

I'm not cheap by any means and I've always tipped at restaurants very well now I don't order pizza I don't order stuff like that or Uber eats or any of that shit and here's why. One I have no problem going to pick it up myself. Two you're already working for Domino's or a pizza place and you know that you're going to be a driver and that you're going to have to go out and deliver that's what you're getting hired for so you already know that you're going to put wear and tear on your car. No need to talk to my employer. In my country it's common knowledge that you tip your waiters, taxi drivers, and pizza delivery drivers. It's been that way as far as I've been alive. And yes it's an option in case the service was bad then they don't tip. Thats understandable. The other day I got a nice tip from this guy then we realized his order wasn't complete. So I had to go back and grab his missing item plus a free item I gave him for his inconvenience. But I also offered to give the tip back because I messed up. However he was nice enough to let me keep it.

I don't expect to be tipped if I mess up. But if I give good service I do expect it. And they can choose what to tip me. Sometimes it's a dollar, five dollars, or my biggest tip was forty dollars. But on average it's $5.

That defeats the entire premise of a tip (e. g. paying for good service). If we get to this point, it would make more sense for pizza employers to 1.) scale up their prices so they aren’t reliant on tips and 2.) pay their workers more. If we look at the current system, sure— people should tip. However, the system itself is flawed in my opinion. There isn’t really a good way to fix it though. If people stopped tipping (thereby putting more pressure on employers for fair wages), it would create a period of time where employees suffer.

I always tip $5 or 20% to pizza drivers. Whichever is higher. Also I do it in cash. So it isn’t automatically reported. That’s up to them to be honest.

I started going to pick up pizza myself because it is a ripoff for delivery and a tip. $5 delivery and a $2 tip equals an extra $7 for a place that is just over 2 miles from my house. It only takes me 15 minutes to drive there, pick it up, and drive home. Plus to even have it delivered there is a minimum order amount, which is more than I need.

I used to tip people, but I stopped. For one, too many complain about not getting enough. For another reason, I don't get tipped for doing a good job at my work, so what makes them so special? A lack of education and wanting an entry level job to be able to buy them a house, car, and fully support themselves?

I personally tip service people well. I've been known to tip 100% of a 300 dollar ticket I love the expression on their face. It feels very cool to make someone's evening just because I can. On another note did you know America is one of the few places of the tip I discovered this in Europe you can actually offend a person there giving them a tip for doing their job. Also in this digital age many people do not know what to do they don't have cash , and are distrusting of adding a tip to the charge slip , because they are unsure if the service person will get it I always ask the wait staff " does this establishment give you your tips?" My experience as a delivery driver was that, honestly, it evened out. I didn't care that much if I received a small tip because I did get good tips as well. Once I delivered to a family, a young woman (not much younger than me) who, it appeared, had just moved into her own place. She asked me how much I usually got for a tip. I told her it was a range. I do tip waiters from small restraunts or when I feel they do need money but not fill the pockets of already rich ones. Many restaurants are unequal in how much they pay their waiters. The job doesn't require a tip when i lived in WA, it was 18-19$ with a few add ons when i lived in Georgia, Pizza cost 20 something dollars so there was always extra to tip. When i moved back to my original home state Cali u are joking me 30-40$ for a pizza and few items cause of tax & then they added in a stupid delivery FEE but that delivery fee isn't a tip of the driver. Everyone should work for tips or commission once in their lives. Most people tip waitstaff in restaurants where the person travels a few dozen feet. A delivery person often handles the same food preparation and drives miles to multiple homes with the expectation of warm food in their own gas and car.
