I mean you can't even give a dollar to the person driving your food to your house, sometimes through rough terrain and hard to find addresses putting wear and tear on their car?

I can only understand if the driver f*cked up or pissed you off. To those who don't tip for no good reason, understand most drivers get a sucky hourly wage and rely on those tips as part of their income. So you suck.

I had a relative who never tipped. I hated going to restaurants with them as I was always concerned that they had been there before and the wait staff knew them and would retaliate.

As a guy who delivered in college, I'd say you have to be a total idiot to not pay without tips delivery drivers lose money as iThe milage they give doesn't cover the cost of driving your own vehicle, not by a long shot. You are basically stealing their time and work. I will say I never messed with anyone's food, I would put them at the bottom of the list when busy so I would expect poor service at least. I know drivers that would mess with your order in disgusting ways. Don't tip, you might get an @$$ pie (I won't explain that phrase, you don't want to know)

Unless I have a reason to be pissed off at the driver because they were late or messed up with my order (I always look at the order as soon as I get it) I always tip and generously. These are tough times for everyone so if I can do something even in a small way I always do.

(Because, that's how tipping culture started. "To Insure Prompt Service.") Yes, I would literally rather not pay anything and watch a restaurant go out of business than to engage in f*cking tip culture. That's how much I despise it. And if someone didn't want to be my friend because I didn't want to give somebody $20 for two minutes worth of work to bring food from point A than point B, then they'd be doing me a favor. And PIZZA delivery drivers? I won't ever tip a waiter, why would I tip a job even less deserving than that?

I'm not cheap by any means and I've always tipped at restaurants very well now I don't order pizza I don't order stuff like that or Uber eats or any of that shit and here's why. One I have no problem going to pick it up myself. Two you're already working for Domino's or a pizza place and you know that you're going to be a driver and that you're going to have to go out and deliver that's what you're getting hired for so you already know that you're going to put wear and tear on your car. So why the fuck does the person that is waiting for the pizza to come sometimes 30 to 45 minutes really it doesn't matter how much time you're waiting but why the fuck do they have to give you a tip or are they expected to give you a tip when you're already being paid hourly by the job that you're working for that's your fault that you want to take the chance to go out and work a fucking job delivering pizzas and try to make tips from it it's not our obligation or the person's obligation to pay you any type of tip. I'm not going to bust my fucking ass for a living so that I can order a fucking pizza and pay you a $5 or $10 tip because you drove it to my house when in fact you got the job at the pizza place as a driver for that same fucking reason so that you could go deliver pizzas in the job would pay you it's not my fault you're fucking company that you work for doesn't pay you shit except minimum wage for driving out that's not our fucking fault you're the dumb fuck that took the job

I pay for delivery. I don't tip unless I feel it's really deserved.

I think the duty of care should be on the employer to pay his employees appropriate wages and not on customers. They should pay them from the money they get for the food I buy and the delivery fee I pay.

I understand that they get paid poorly. But by creating a tipping culture you allow the employers to abuse employees in such a way. If you want to change something, really change it then you start at the top.

Also, US is not the golden standard on everything on the planet like you seem to think from your aggressive attack on people who don't share your worldview. Certainly not on hospitality. There are plenty of countries in Europe and Asia where tipping is an insult - because people get paid fairly and are simply doing their job. They are also a lot more relaxed and don't bother you all the time hoping to simp a few extra quids. Employers who put their employees in such position should be ashamed. I would much rather have the "tip" included in a meal in a culture that doesn't accept tipping and have the delivery person/server paid a fair wage.

Not to mention that pizza is a cheap food and usually poor people and students order it. Ever thought that the pizza chain/restaurant is in a better position to pay its employees than the customer?

I tip fairly because I do care about the workers, but forced tipping is kind of stupid in the first place, I’ll say. You shouldn’t have to rely on tips or expect tips for a fair wage. That defeats the entire premise of a tip (e. g. paying for good service). This is just letting the company pay their workers less, giving the employees more of a gamble on a steady paycheck, and deceiving customers in a way too.

If we get to this point, it would make more sense for pizza employers to 1.) scale up their prices so they aren’t reliant on tips and 2.) pay their workers more. If we look at the current system, sure— people should tip. However, the system itself is flawed in my opinion. There isn’t really a good way to fix it though. If people stopped tipping (thereby putting more pressure on employers for fair wages), it would create a period of time where employees suffer.

I always tip $5 or 20% to pizza drivers. Whichever is higher. Also I do it in cash. So it isn’t automatically reported. That’s up to them to be honest.

I do agree that tipped workers should be paid a decent wage and not be required to get tips to make a living. Also companies should be required to supply company cars to employees. With all gas, insurance and maintenance on the company. If the employee has to do deliveries or really any driving for the company. Other than their commute to and from work.

I started going to pick up pizza myself because it is a ripoff for delivery and a tip. $5 delivery and a $2 tip equals an extra $7 for a place that is just over 2 miles from my house. It only takes me 15 minutes to drive there, pick it up, and drive home. Plus to even have it delivered there is a minimum order amount, which is more than I need.

I used to tip people, but I stopped. For one, too many complain about not getting enough. For another reason, I don't get tipped for doing a good job at my work, so what makes them so special? A lack of education and wanting an entry level job to be able to buy them a house, car, and fully support themselves?

I don't feel sorry for people anymore after I put in so much work, put myself through school while working full time with no help from anyone. If people want to have more they should take steps to earn it.

I personally tip service people well. I've been known to tip 100% of a 300 dollar ticket I love the expression on their face. It feels very cool to make someone's evening just because I can. On another note did you know America is one of the few places of the tip I discovered this in Europe you can actually offend a person there giving them a tip for doing their job. Also in this digital age many people do not know what to do they don't have cash , and are distrusting of adding a tip to the charge slip , because they are unsure if the service person will get it I always ask the wait staff " does this establishment give you your tips?" Most do but some portion them among others or just give them a percentage. I don't frequent greedy establishments.

My experience as a delivery driver was that, honestly, it evened out. I didn't care that much if I received a small tip because I did get good tips as well. Once I delivered to a family, a young woman (not much younger than me) who, it appeared, had just moved into her own place. She asked me how much I usually got for a tip. I told her it was a range. Her dad looked at me and told her to give me the low end figure. Which she did. But the smile she gave me more than made up for it.

I always give them something, but I really have an issue with it. And it's nothing personal towards the driver, it's just that it cost SO MUCH as it is, without the tip! Especially today. I don't know about the states, but here in Canada, even just getting a medium pizza, and maybe some garlic bread, with taxes and delivery, comes to almost $40 without the tip! That's insane! And you're already paying a delivery charge (which is also quite high now), and I think the tip should be included in that, or they should pay the driver properly, where they don't have to rely on tips. That's my opinion. But I can't not tip them either. But, depending on what my bill is, it can affect how much I tip them sometimes.

I used to deliver pizzas back in the day. Cash tips were big because most tips were done via credit card and it never went to the driver. Unfortunately it is just something that comes with the job. I do everything I can to give a good tip to drivers whenever I order from them.

When I get delivery, I usually tip 15% during the winter, or on busy days, I’ll probably tip more than 20%. The only ones that we like who deliver are expensive - it’ll cost like 27 for a large square. The rest won’t deliver… I usually don’t tip them if I’m picking it up, unless it’s super busy and they look stressed.

The job doesn't require a tip when i lived in WA, it was 18-19$ with a few add ons when i lived in Georgia, Pizza cost 20 something dollars so there was always extra to tip. When i moved back to my original home state Cali u are joking me 30-40$ for a pizza and few items cause of tax & then they added in a stupid delivery FEE but that delivery fee isn't a tip of the driver. So thats separate? And you expect a huge tip? Oh hell nah talk to your company about that issue they ain't paying you right. But anyways i always tip 5$ or more but looking at those charges i can see why people do NOT.

Everyone should work for tips or commission once in their lives. Most people tip waitstaff in restaurants where the person travels a few dozen feet. A delivery person often handles the same food preparation and drives miles to multiple homes with the expectation of warm food in their own gas and car.

There times when I can't even leave my house to get groceries. Sometimes it's between ordering food and starving for me. I don't tip because I don't have any extra money. Some places have a delivery charge that goes right to the driver. Depends on who's vehicle is being used - if it's store owned, they often keep the fee, which tends to not work out for the driver. But overall, you're correct. If you can't spare a few bucks to save yourself the trouble of going out yourself, you're a cheap ass MF.

In my opinion, it's really poor folks who just want a pizza. Maybe they haven't thought through the entire process and realized that what they're doing isn't exactly nice to the other party involved (the delivery driver).

I usually give them some grace. Even though I admit that it is frustrating.

Depends on multiple things:
- Is it already included in the bill? (if yes, I wouldn't because we already get forced to tip)
- how is the service of the person? (including quality of pizza)
- in what conditions has the deliver to be for delivery? (for instance I would tip more if its bad weather or snowy)

Sadly this is some forced thing multiple country's have in order to pay their staff way below minimum wage. Its truly disgusting how shops mistreat their staff.
