HS curriculums are created by subject matter experts. The parents major responsibility is to plan out their school times for their kids. Answers, discussion questions, etc. are provided. But, my daughter has a Master's degree in engineering which requires a lot of planning, so she is easily up to the task.
Public school is safety net. Homeschool and private is far superior. But hey if you dont have money or parents that care enough at least you got a 50/50 shot at being able to read and do basic math by the time you graduate high school. 🤣
@Subarugirl both have a far superior rate over public school when it comes to the education of children. But of course there's always one to break the mold.
exactly i think homeschooling for certain subjects is ok but kids need to be around their peers for at least some social interaction and you’re right home schooled kids were usually lacking in social skills
I don't know if it changed, but if you hime school through the state they usually require something that requires you to interact with other kids, like an extracurricular
@Subarugirl I grew up in an extremely conservative home and not even they believe that literally all vaccines are poison.
It is extremely improbable to me thay, out of all the 17 years of you being homeschooled, that you were taught that literally *all* vaccines are poison. Covid vaccine maybe, but I think even that is a stretch.
The only way I would imagine one would possibly interpret that poison is involved is if there was the argument of:
- The fact that politicians wanted to make you take it rather than have you decide for yourself could be a sign that there is something wrong with it to the degree that anyone would refuse it if they were made aware.
- a family member got it and have had a variety of issues because they felt like going to the doctor to ask for advice is pointless, as they don't really have a choice but get the vaccine, otherwise they would have been advised against it for any number of reasons.
Poison seems to be too much of an exaggeration to me.
well weather you believe that or not... neither myself nor any of my siblings were vaccinated, or ever had a dr check up, or visited a pediatrician unless it was a life threatening emergency. My first ever trip to see a doctor was when I was in labor with my son. When he was born, my mother and my grandmother did everything they could to discourage me from vaccinating him.
I knew it was happening for decades but at least the general consensus of the world (or at least the internet) is that people who refuse to give their children vaccines at all are seen with contempt as they should.
Ever since covid, "anti-vax" has been changed to mean people who didn't want the covid vaccine and covid in general to rule over our lives and that is absolutely not the same thing and yet they are lumped together with the psychos in your family. This definition change made me confused.
Not in favorite of it unless the parent is a skilled and knowledgeable teacher and actually knows how to teach, besides kids need to grow up around other kids as it will help them be social.

I like homeschooling better. Public schooling gonna teach your kid to be LGBT or hate themselves or chop off their dick.
Plus school system doesn't prepare kids for real life.
I've seen a lot of kids fucked up by their parents. Usually the ones who try to control them too much. You're saying that you believe these people to be enough of a minority that it's not worth being concerned about? I think this post has lead to a mostly productive conversation.
It just sounds like you’re not skilled in your relationships to find someone to settle down with. I’m not being confrontational. It’s simply an observation.

It is simple. If you DON'T have a Teaching degree, you have NO place playing teacher!!
Do you have one?

That is a subjective statement, homeschooling and private school aren't automatically better... I know, because I lived

oh I have dozens of examples...
@Subarugirl dozens of examples vs millions of kids... yeah i mean there's always some sure. Not sure what your point is.
Are you fucking kidding? People homeschool because they can't stand the STATE SPONSORED LEFTISTS indoctrination in our public schools.

Yes - parents should be able to get a tax credit equal to the amount of taxes paid to support their local schools.

You know there are homeschooling kits parents can buy right?
Also, that is such a weak-ass strawman if a picture.
Lmao, it worked pretty good for a weak "strawman" though
As someone who was homeschooled untill I was 17 years old... that photo pretty much hits the nail on the head
@Subarugirl you've been taught that vaccines ate poison? That is the biggest tip off for me.
Yes…

The anti-vax epidemic has been around for decades, my grandmother bought into it, and passed that conspiracy theory and paranoia down to my mother
@Subarugirl Ah ok.

And public school now days is full pedophiles
In Egypt it's illegal, and the law forcing the family to send their children to free or private school
If that's what you think, then you need to learn more. And realize that public school is far worse
The guy with no kids telling the people with kids they’re doing it all wrong. 🧐
Some guy who doesn't know how to read, tries to act tough. I guess it falls within the stereotype
Reads question, reads update, reads other opinion replies where OP berates parents for home education. You underestimate parents.

Hello?
That's a very good question! I've asked it myself a few times but, still, nobody can answer it.
