Those in college, is reaching out to people on social media worth it?

I know that a lot of colleges have accounts that feature incoming freshmen so people can reach out to talk to new people, possibly find roommates.

I already know who I’m rooming with for my freshman year but I was also debating on if I should reach out to a few people on these pages to try to meet new people? Especially a few of those in my major.

What do you think? Did you reach out to people, do you think it’s worth the time?

My advice is to focus on your school and your social and religious societies, good grades attracts good friends and if your academics are not good, people will ghost your as soon as you graduate.
