Affluent neighborhood:How far away from work would you move for a nice, peaceful area with great networking opportunities and entertainment?

I voted C. My preferred max drive is 30 minutes. But... here's the thing: it's always more than just the drive. You have to take a look at shopping, food, stores, gas stations -- the stuff you need to live. Like, how long will it take you to get to a good movie theater? Church, if you go to one? Kids and schools if that's part of your life (or, interestingly, how do the school areas affect traffic). Do you have a car dealer you like and they're now far away. Are there places nearby to meet people your age if you're looking for that. Is it too far from your existing friends and seeing them now becomes a burden? Good on you for thinking about this smart, but just keep in mind the other factors for the times when you're at home.
Many affluent people can work remotely so it doesn't matter where they live, their commute is measured in feet.
What does that have to do with me moving to an affluent neighborhood?
Affluent people now live everywhere because they can.
Sure, there are "affluent neighborhoods" in the suburbs and exurbs but Manhattan is an affluent neighborhood.
Meanwhile, more people may seemingly be more crime, but that's not necessarily true. More rural = less police = more crime... like meth labs in the woods and people who are wacko and shoot floaters who take a piss on the shore.
Young lady, remember this adage which is oh so true:
Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it.
There are plusses and minuses to all places and only the cost-benefit analysis that you do for yourself is relevant. We cannot do that for you other than tell you of our experiences.
You want to move to an area where crime is minimal?
Get a job in a prison and live near it.
Affluent people live in affluent neighborhoods. Not just anywhere. I'm exclusively referring to a suburb I'm interested in with affluent individuals. I've been a nurse in a prison. There is not minimal crime there. So I don't understand the analogy
But yes there are affluent fast paced cities in New York with high crime same as Los Angeles.
In prison, the criminals are already behind bars. If you want to be safe from crime, work there. ;)
Look, back to your larger question, for those who commute, commute times may be important, but so are traffic patterns, and public transportation, and, believe it or not, the geography of the place.
For instance, I used to live on Long Island. My father commuted about 30 minutes to JFK and he worked wacky hours so he avoided rush hour. I used to work in Queens and it took me an hour to drive 32 miles - and I was paid extra to "avoid" rush hour (but you can't really) by working 10AM to 7PM. Lots of people on LI who worked in Manhattan to the Long Island Rail Road; it's just easier that way... In upstate, or CT, or NJ, they'd do similar taking other railroads. In the city itself, you'd take the subway. Affluent people lived all throughout the NYC metro area. But, there are two directions: "in-bound" and "Out-bound" and so you'd have traffic jams mostly during rush hour but often at any hour. The only way to escape it is to leave the metro area or get a job elsewhere like suburbia.
In a sense, I did that. For 30 years, I lived in the Albany-Troy-Schenectady area. Because there is no central city, the commuters went among those cities and so traffic was never that bad. It was a great place to live for commuting and peace of mind.
Anyway, I could go on and on about this topic, but I do want to convey one more thing. "How far would you drive?" isn't really a question of distance, but of time...
If I had a 20-mile commute that took an hour stuck in traffic versus a 40-mile commute that took an hour of continuously moving traffic, I'd opt for the 40-mile commute because it lowers stress. Of course, that commute costs more in gas and miles on the car. So, there's all sorts of things to weigh about choosing where to live and work. One other thing and I alluded to that earlier: crime happens everywhere; the nature of the crimes may differ based on location and economics.
I'm not reading an essay it's not that deep.
Sir you're 59 with no life, no wife, no future nor friends. Your life is gag. Why would I listen to you? Lol 😆. You hold no value

I know how to fight and have guns. So it wouldn’t make sense to pursue that “peace of mind” all at the expense of needing to wake up earlier for work and drive longer distances
Work in a bad area to live in a nice area, drive what you have to
Where I work isn't a bad area
Either way still worth driving to maintain living in a good area in my opinion, 45 min drive isn’t so bad
Yeah you're right I just rather be in bed
That’s why I work for myself, working in bed is always an option 😂🎉
i work from home... so my nice, peaceful area is 0 minutes commute, lol.
Around 7000km, I am going to work remotely from Europe for a north america company.
I would do a 40 minute commute.
I voted one hour max though. I would greatly prefer less of a commute but I’d do an hour is necessary.
Only as far as commuter rail goes.
