What lessons have you learned from your workplace/-experience?

So I quit my Job and I have 20 days left in this office🥳

From past workplaces I learned to not over do it, to just work the required minimum, no favors, "this is not my company"-mentality and keep business and privacy separated.

In this office I learned that it's okay to talk back to someone if they're being sassy towards you!
Still respectful but to clearly speak up and not to put them in their place no matter their status, if you're in the right.

And my younger colleagues who are just learning this Job, they showed me more how a healthy friendship should be like... cause I definitely had a tendency for the wrong friendships in the past.
I'm working on it since 2 years now and just this past year they really opened my eyes with some topics 🙏🏼

I and some others I know have learned just the opposite especially if at 100-150,000 range. My job is based upon monthly numbers and huge gains on purchase of DOG properties... gun shots and needles in day time and on the ground areas. Happy clients expect 15-25% gains in monthly income. Some Saturdays, flight time to their homelands, and general jump on their time frame.

Another person in supply chain for a major.. the major pharma company. One can work standard hours BUT at 9pm, (4 hours after everything has settled), there is 2 hours of work to get out on the front end and to another tomorrow morning. Then there's a 6:30am login for a workday that begins at 8:30 to get the crap that was sent to her out or responded too before the start of the Business day.

Learned not to work in a hostel work environment of any kind when it comes to my mental health. It is one thing if the job is highly demanding, Id rather come home tired and exhausted because I had a productive day over a boss who is a complete ass.

I found myself much more productive when there is no micromanagement.

If I was going to leave with a month or less remaining, I would work extra hard so the company (supervisors, etc.) had a favorable impression. After all, I would probably need a reference from them when seeking another job and for that a good reference is beneficial.

Life is not fair

You have to fight for yourself, noone else is going to do it

If it's no longer enjoyable and you have alternatives, leave. It's just a job

Do love what you do and enjoy your time, it's a lot of life. But don't put all your heart and soul in it. You don't own it is right... even if you own shares.

Trust your gut.

Get therapy as part of your growth to work out your issues so you can be freed to work other types of roles.

Depends on what workplace we're gonna talk about...
There is only one workplace I learned something I did not already know and that was when I cleaned cars.
Before that I cleaned stairs in apartment buildings and today I digitalise photographs.

All I wanted to say from my point of view, your objective observation could mistakingly seem judgmental to struggling people.
I do not struggle with work at all, circumstances in life that can cause signs in the workplace that mistakingly could be claimed to be "laziness".
Life is not easy all the time.
