I still feel like a polite little girl, how can I learn to take up more space at work without annoying everyone?

I mean, I know in theory that it's the employees that talk the most at work that everyone loves, but I can't help but become inhibited by colleagues who look deep in thought at their computers or even their phones, or who seem to be grumpy and tired. I know that many extraverts start talking to people not because they are talking directly to somebody, but the result of them thinking out loud very loudly, whereby another extravert has something to say back. Any tips on how I can pretend to think out loud, like good ideas for 'thoughts' that might help bring out my colleagues?
