My coworker said he was annoyed with me for doing my job as I should, do you think this is normal?

to report to my manager I need to make sure he's done the day's work and I have to email him every morning asking if there are any problems. And he told me he was tired of me sending him emails every morning, he answered to me, you are deflecting the subject. Wtf... I said him, do I need to act according to your feelings in order to handle my responsibilities? what do you think about his complaint
