Dream job or affordable living situation?

I was offered my dream job, but with the salary and location, I would be spending an entire check on rent (not including utilities, and roommates are not an option).

There are jobs near where I currently live, but I know I wouldn’t enjoy them as much as my dream job. Also, where I currently live has rent control, so I have money left over from my checks.

I don’t know what to do. The job that I was offered is not commonly given to recent graduates, and as a recent graduate, I got it on the first try. So I don’t want to give that up, but I also don’t want to give up my apartment.

If I were to stay where I currently live and drive to my dream job, that would be a 4 hour drive one way.

Life is about living your dream and passion and sacrifices are going to have to be made.

You can do your dream job, get experience of maybe 1 or 2 years and see what happens in the future but you have to least try it out lest you look back years later with intense regret.

there will be other dream jobs. what's the point in getting the dream job if you can't even afford to live a basic life? be miserable paying way too much for a house and have your dream job, or have a basic job and be way more financially free? i'd rather be financially free and not stress about money. things add up quick.

Maybe live with your parents and work in the area the best job available

My mom lives in a senior citizen home, so that’s not an option, unfortunately.

Try renting a room with somebody I’m in the same situation. I have to find a roommate for the first time in my life for my home and I have no idea what to do and time is running out.
