Feeling ostracized at work?

I have been at my current job for almost a year and loved it. I am growing to hate it now. I outperform my coworkers and they ostracize me.

I've been left out of conversations and instead of asking me for information I would know, they purposely ask someone else as if I don't know it.

To top it off, my birthday is coming up and no one has yet to mention anything. Not even lunch. Usually my supervisor will buy lunch for everyone (on company's dime) and it's the birthday persons choice the week of their birthday.( we only work 3 days a week so birthdays don't always fall on the days we work).

Today we will only have lunch bought for us because there was a leaking pipe and "this morning was crazy" according to the supervisor even though he wasn't here.

I don't know how to deal until I find a new job. I'm ready to go at this point. No one should have to feel like this. I've even had to complain about this competitive nosey b**** that got promoted and the manager did nothing. Yet he handled her complaint on someone immediately.

Ugh girl, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this crap at work. It really sucks when people get petty and jealous over performance. And management not backing you up when you have a legitimate complaint absolutely makes it worse.

A few things I would try in the meantime before you find something new:

- Don't engage with the competitive coworker at all if possible. No need to give them ammunition.

- Stay friendly but keep your distance from the other clique-y people too. Kill them with kindness from afar.

- Don't let their antics get to you or change your work. Keep excelling so they can't fault you there.

- Speak to your supervisor again privately about feeling intentionally left out. Point out specific examples if you can.

- Maybe try connecting with colleagues at other sites/departments via messaging if your company allows. Branch out.

- Keep your resume polished and start applying elsewhere discretely. No need to suffer.

In the end you can't force people to like you if they've made up their minds. But don't give them the power to ruin your self-worth either, babe. You got this!
