1 yI went to 2 different private schools, my parents wanted me to have a better education standard than what public schools provided. They were also religious and the schools were christian. The first one was massive, and based on that information alone I know I would have done horribly in a large public school. I had undiagnosed autism until I was 15, I left that school when I was 12 and in the time I spent there I was bullied relentlessly for being the “weird kid” and I withdrew into myself completely. My parents saw how much this was effecting me and transferred me to another school that was still christian but also much, much smaller. I went from having 100 kids in my grade to less than 100 kids in the entire student body for grades 8-12. I was able to experience much better attention from teachers because of the small class size and excelled academically and was able to work with the teachers to get a college scholarship that helped me immensely. You don’t have to like private schools but I know that if I had been put in a public school I either would have killed myself or killed the student body if I was subjected to the same level of bullying on their standard.

Anonymous(30-35)1 yDon't send them if you don't have money. I went a private school. I had one girl in my friendship group who was significantly below the socio economic range of average. Not sure if her grandparents were paying or what.
The next 5-10 years out of highschool she was incredibly insecure from feeling LESS than other kids. It ended up making her nighly narcissistic as she had this complex of materialistic items and appearance to over compensate for feeling less than.
The peers of mine that had the same as everyone else acted normal after school.
private school isn't just about school - it is about general way of life outside of the school walls too. If you cannot have your child have what the other children have outside the walls of school - i think it will do more damage than good. That was just my experience.11 Reply
Opinion Owner1 yAlso - the education isn't necessarily better but 90 percent of the kids parents were paying for private tutors twice a week. And the kids in the classroom are better behaved so its less of a distraction. Etc etc etc. All these kind of factors make it seem like they are getting a better education but its not really about the education. It is that you are in a classroom with kids that are being pampered and well fed and waking up in silky clean sheets after a good night rest. Had a big breakfast. Have private tutors. Be dropped off and picked up from school with an afternoon treat waiting in the car. Etc etc. They have the resources to make their education better. It is not the school.
1 yPublic schools are often seen as being less developed and cared for compared to private schools. Some people, including me, believe that public schools can indoctrinate children and provide a worse educational environment. On the other hand, private schools are thought to be stronger on discipline and preparing students for adulthood, and the education is overall better.
Personally, I have the money to send my future children to a private school, but I would still choose homeschooling over both options, it's more optimal in about every way.11 Reply
1 yprivate schools often have smaller class sizes, better behaved students, less burned out teachers, etc.
parents aren't going to pay good money to have their kid be a knucklehead and make bad grades, get into fights, etc.
Yes, private schools are not perfect, and you'll find bullies there to, but when was the last time you saw a viral video of a teacher being assaulted at a private school or a mob of students fighting at one?

look for the school uniforms
- 1 y
most private schools require uniforms.
- 1 y
most in the US do not, and most of those videos show people in street clothes
- 1 y
the videos often have the name of the schools. I'll wager a Coke for every one fight at a private school, there are a 100 in public schools. Ask any teacher who taught at both or child who attended both. Again: watch the videos. The chances of two or more kids showing up to a private school in street clothes, making it past their homeroom, then getting into a brawl are none!

no, I'm not. Go by the evidence. Just go to youtube and look up "teacher assaulted" or "school brawl," and you won't see private schools. You're either a troll who is just gainsaying for fun, or you just hate private schools for some reason.
- 1 y
what PROOF do you have fights are as common or evey remotely as common at private schools than public schools.
You're trolling or you're really, really naive. - 1 y
oh, so you spoke to people who sent their kids to private schools, and they told you the behavior in private schools is just as bad in public schools. What was their proof? They attended one private school and generalized about all of them? Students at private schools, for example, were 8 percent more likely to have never experienced physical conflicts, 28 percent more likely to have never experienced another student possessing a weapon on campus, and 13 percent more likely to have never experienced racial tension between students.
“We find that private schools have a statistically significant advantage for each of the 13 discipline problems examined – even after controlling for factors such as school size, school type, enrollment, student-teacher ratio, percentage of minority teachers, percent of minority students and urbanicity,” wrote DeAngelis in the Washington Examiner. - 1 y
See now think about it, without me searching anything up I know for a fact there are more kids attending public school then private schools, meaning those statistics aren't even correctly calculated, second it was the student I spoke back when I was a student fights broke out everyday and the student was on of them so no biased bull crap over here like you're trying to pull.

do it. Go on the internet and find research that shows public and private schools have the same level of violence. Go for it!

1 yWe live in Germany, and Drama Queen goes to a semi-private school, and it is the best choice ever, especially considering her coming from autism problems. The school is very supportive, and teachers cooperate with the special unit of Jugendamt, which accommodates students with special needs. The school is very well equipped, and classes are smaller than in public schools.

m 1 yit would depend on the area... and the schools in particular
would be a great mistake to think that all schools are the same for private and public, that's definitely not the case
the little ones in my family went to a more private one and it was definitely the best choice for them in particular... I always went to public and for me, that was the best call as well, lol12 Reply- 1 y
and in some cases... home schooling is even a better option
1 yI am paying 3 tutors to teach my children. Better that than sending them to a school filled with LGBT pervs

1 yBe picky about specific private schools. We were familiar with families that had already gone through the ones we were choosing from, so the teachers were known, education, structure. None of that is bested out by the zoo of public schools.

1 yI don't intend on having offspring, however i would be cheap and lazy and send them to a public school/government school.
