If your job asked you 4 months in advance if you're available to cover a shift, would you decline, or would you take them up on the offer?

Say yes! wtf are you waiting for? You say yes when you want the overtime/money... and not any other time. It's not a precedent situation. Your accepting this doesn't mean you have to say yes to anything else.
You take the shifts now. In 4 months you'll hate yourself for doing so. Then you get the extra pay and are glad you did. Is this the first overtime offer? That's how it goes. You think it's a good idea, until you actually are doing it; then you get your extra money and are happy about that. That's the way this is supposed to go!
If you don't take it... you'll wish you did when the time comes, and you'll wish you had the extra money on that paycheck.
This is a no-brainer.
Take all 4 shifts if you can. It's 4 months away. You don't even have to deal with it for 4 months. Then you suck it up when you have to work extra. Then you live your best fancy life. Definitely take at least one of them.
Great point!!
I just did overtime this weekend. I dreaded it before then once it got here it went by so quick lol π grateful
haha, that's weird. You're supposed to hate yourself during and right after the overtime shift. If you just did it, and it wasn't so bad... this should be easy!
I hated my self during and days before leading up to it π€£.
As long as you get those bad-feeling in somewhere. I think that's still fine.
Unless it's on something like Christmas or a child's graduation, I'd probably say yes. On the reasonable understanding that circumstances change and I may not be able to. (Especially if they're asking because it's on something like Christmas or their child's graduation.)
It's like making a dentist appointment. "Will you be available at 9:30 on a Tuesday six months from now?"
Right lol π. Well it's not on any holidays. I do want the cash cause there's a certain lifestyle I like so yeah OT won't hurt now and then.
Whoa!! Always nice to have a cushion like that
I'd probably say yeah, if I really wanted the extra money. Overtime pay is nice
How soon would you respond lol? I want the shift but dont wanna come off desperate either
Ok good I waited an hour and played it π cool lol.π€£ you know as a woman there's a certain lifestyle I want. I want to look good, live in a nice neighborhood, and have money to enjoy my hobbies. My permanent schedule is two to three days a week anyway. So I'm off 5 days one week and 4 the other. I like my me time
If the money is good and they are not asking all the time I say go for it.
Taking the shifts could be beneficial for both financial and career growth, especially with the allure of overtime pay. However, balance is key. If saying yes aligns with your lifestyle goals without compromising your work-life balance, consider it. If there's potential burnout or a pattern of over-reliance on your availability developing, it's okay to occasionally decline. Deliberate on how these shifts fit into your long-term career aspirations and personal life, and proceed accordingly.

Think of it this way, the more you say yes, the more they will offer you, then you can always say no when you want, if you want them take it, unless you truly don't want the overtime, although 4 months in advance is way too in advanced, there might be plans you aren't even aware of now lol
So true I'll have more offers. I looked up the dates they're not on major holidays.
That's good, are you certain you won't have plans with friends or family, or partner, etc , unless you are an anti social homebody it still seems far in advance, but best of luck with it tho
I'm not much of a people personπ€£.
Then you chillin lol
Lol π
What business is scheduling shift work 4 months out? This sounds bizarre. Shift work tends to be low paying jobs with a high turnover rate. Why try to schedule any further out than a week or two?
That'd be August so if they've got A/C I'm there
I know when I'm on holiday (not that I stop working) and I know when Christmas and my birthday are (when I take half the day off apiece)
Lol π the A/c
If they approach me for something in advance, Iβd take them up on it way more than if they ask me that day to stay later. Itβs way more respectful of my time anyway when they ask in advance
It's not last minute, and they are asking not ordering.
I'd say NO as it is much to far ahead to know what I would be doing then.
Four months in advance? Sure, if I didnβt already have plans. I would totally do it.
I'm more likely to say yes if I'm asked way in advance but it's still 50/50.
To cover one shift? Of course, no problem. The advance warning lets me plan my time.
I would check my schedule and would take it if available.
Got to choose one babe, cannot have it both ways 😎
I know the days don't land on major holidays so I may be good to go
