I googled multiple people I knew in while I was in the gifted program in high school, most are in low grade careers in the 40-55% percentile of intelligence levels. I am not judging because there is more to life then just money, and job satisfaction and work life balance might be more important to these people than paper chasing at depressing jobs, but I would say that high school is too young to know who requires upgraded education training and the gifted program should not exist for people at that tender age.

The decision to modify or remove gifted programs, keeping only programs like IB, requires careful consideration. High school is indeed a formative period, and it’s vital to ensure diverse educational opportunities that cater to varying needs and potential. Gifted programs can help in identifying and nurturing talent early, but they should be flexible and inclusive, accommodating different interests and future pathways. While some students thrive in specialized programs like IB, others might benefit from more diverse educational experiences. A balanced approach considering individual growth and adaptability is essential for fostering long-term success and fulfillment.
