Is it rude to not answer someone's text messages if they always leave you on read?

Like if they leave you on read but start a new conversation a few hours later or days that's irrelevant to the previous conversation?

Depends. Maybe you're left on read because there's not more to say in the conversation, so it's not that you're being ignored, but that the conversation ended.
BUT, if you ask them something or the conversation is still going, then it is rude to leave you on read, and hence I think it's ok to ignore them if later they text you with something different. It's like if they only cared about what they have to say.

I ask my friend something and she'll open it and type like she's gonna say something but then stop responding and not say anything. I don't get it.

I've already stopped talking to her. She texted​ me 2 times and I opened it and she saw that I opened it and texted me 2 more times. I still haven't opened those messages she sent. I'm not finna play this game 😂

I mean if you have a question, as a friend she should answer. If she doesn't know what to say to it then she can simply say "I don't know." I have a friend who does the same thing, and then when she has something to ask me she'll expect an answer. No, hunny! Not today. LOL

But the thing is though, I don't ask questions that are hard to answer. She just decides to stop talking and talk to me the next day with "hey". I be like girl I'm not finna play this game with you.

She was saying about how she wanted to apply at a job and she asked me "what position are you?" so I answered the question and then I said "what position did you apply for? what did they tell you?" she opened and didn't say anything.

It's not rude to not respond to someone that leaves you on read and then starts a totally irrelevant conversation. Why should you address their conversation when they never addressed yours? Meh, it's like what's the point in responding since they might just drop the convo

It is rude, yes, but sometimes could be necessary to prove a point. However if somebody acted like that towards me, I'd probably tell them it bugs me. If they don't listen I'd act differently depending on the person and situation.

Being rude is actively ignoring someone. Don't get too invested into text conversations with that person in general and don't worry about it. If you're free to respond and feel like it, then respond. If you don't feel like it, then don't. You don't owe them anything so don't overthink it. If it bothers you that much, then call attention to the thing that bothered you.

Depends. Most of the time it's due to reading it but being too busy to answer (e. g. at work) and then forgetting to answer. Then it's a bit late to answer so starting a new convo is more natural.

it only takes a few seconds to respond. and if you can open the messege to read it you can reply. and if you don't open it there's a notification.

Yes it is rude to CONSTANTLY do that. Sometimes people get busy and forget to reply to the text, so at times this is excusable.
