  • To a degree, obviously, yes.

Laura Dern's character was totally unnecessary - if anything, Admiral Ackbar should have done it and gone out a hero... but heaven forbid an ALIEN gets to be a hero.

I'm all for women being strong characters, and Leia has always been a strong leader. Rey is fine because she's much more organically strong. But Dern's character was a total SJW appeasement, and nearly everyone hated that character. Maybe someone can drop her off on an island full of dinosaurs and she can be a T-Rex's lunch.

  • The first pic forgets the First Order is literally Nazi stand-ins it wants to greener a black man in a bad light so bad but the "law enforcement" he attacked were Nazis. Also the "law enforcement" blew up an entire populated planet of innocent civilians to test their weapons so... I don't know how you misunderstood that they're like... The bad guys.

and the stuff about Holdo I also don't like. She was sketchy as hell. Gender studies is just a dig because she's a woman. I don't like her because she didn't tell anyone, even her own assistant, the damn plan.

  • Sort of, the main character is a Mary Sue. And yes, I didn’t really like that purple haired character. I guess her only redeeming quality is that she martyred herself near the end but as a character, she seemed incompetent and used displacement to compensate for it.

Stars wars rogue one was alright though, the main character wasn’t really a Mary Sue and it has a wide array of interesting characters, it’s just too bad they killed them all off at the end.

  • Doesn't matter to me. The new movies suck just as badly as all the rest that came before them.

Just mindless action and FX eye candy held together by half assed plots filled with so many holes that they explain anything away by using the mythical Force when needed.

Wow the Force is so cool, I wanna be a Jedi too!

    Trapped? Use the Force.

About to die? Use the Force.

Weapon to defend yourself with is halfway across the room? Use the Force.

Your favorite character is about to die and there is absolutely no way to save them in any logical way? Look out, cuz here comes the Force.

Writers written a story straight into a road block but it's too late to revise because filming of scenes have already begun? Use the Force.

Star Wars is to Movies as Anime is to Cartoons... Half assed and cheaply made. Yet the masses keep sucking up the same crap dished out over and over.

So what if Star Wars went all Politically Correct, Inclusive and threw in a bunch of Feminist style characters? It's still the same mindless garbage.

I'd rather watch In The Night Garden on repeat.

    • And yes Star Wars is so predictable that I can even predict the fans down voting my comment into oblivion.

But that's OK because that was my plan all along.

"Good... Good. Let the Hate Flow Through You."

  • I haven't seen the movie but I would be happy to have all the SJW's of the world carried away in one of their starships!

  • Yes. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, I even love the prequels.
These new movies made my dick shrink. They were SO FUCKING g*y.
I miss the days when movies were just plain fun.

  • Most films are these days but Star Wars is certainly a fine example. The Last Jedi was awful!

    • If they want to give a character a ridiculous hair color, can the character at least be well written? And you know... Now horribly written?

    • Show All
    • She loved a guy she'd met like 6 hours before

    • And there was NO chemistry there.

  • Well all the villains (outside of Chrome Dome) is white men.

  • Probably.

I hated the new star wars movie mostly because it was just horribly written and they butchered lukes entire character, destroyed 40 years of character building with one movie.

There was also a whole lot that didn't make sense and there was a lot that happened on screen but not a lot that happened plot wise. And so many more issues.

Also I really hate that line "when star wars finally becomes diverse"

Star Wars has been diverse from the very start, if anything it's one of the most diverse franchisee in existence. Especially when it first came out and this was without trying to be that.

The moment they tried to be edgy and inject political nonsense into it was when it started to go down hill. But really that's not what made it bad Rians writing and poor directing is what made the force awakens bad.

The Last Jedi as I would put it is a decent Sci-Fi film but it's a god awful star wars movie.

  • The whole concept of a "strong female character" is just ridiculous at this point. What does it even mean? Why is it that whenever the media speaks of yet another strong female character, they only mention that she's "strong", but they miss out on whether she's funny, quirky, stoic, heroic, emotional, laid-back, nerdy or anything. "Strong" isn't even a character trait. It's just a vague way of saying that the character has barely any faults, which is poor character writing.

"Strong female characters" is also a cheap way to virtue signal how your movie is inclusive and progressive (implying that women have never had good roles in movies).

  • Still like the movies but there is subliminal meaning to a lot of what you watch on tv and movies. Notice that most commercials with a man and his wife, the man is some bumbling buffoon. Where the wife always gets the last laugh.
