Do/did you take into consideration the age restrictions while purchasing video games?

Yes. My parents are smart and attentive, and since they bought most of our games , they knew exactly what we were playing. (My dad often played with us, and beat our brains out.) If they said I wasn't old enough to play certain games I saw on TV or in stores, I generally took their word for it. I didn't really want to see explicit stuff anyway. I wanted to play games that were fun and wouldn't get me in trouble because when I got in trouble with my parents, there were actual consequences. (Not sure if that's the case with kids today. :D )
I could care less about the ESRB ratings. I only care about if the game is good or not, and the price.
Depends on who, and their maturity level...
If I'm buying it for someone elses child/teen I'd ask
If it was my own younger two - then I know what I'm happy with, and what they're aware of.
Even my under 10 year old is aware of swearing, he's aware I don't allow him to say it even if he hears it on TV, Games or anywhere else, so it's compromise and being aware of what I buy etc, (And he's aware I won't in-front of him unless I hurt myself/reason either lol)
Haha no

No lol. I remember my father buying me 16 plus videogames at 5 . I'm no worse of than I would have been without them. And I also remember my female cousin playing GTA 5 at like... 8 I wanna say. She still hasn't shot up a school 5 years later so I'd say it's fine.
I was 11 when first playing Mortal Kombat on my Sega CD. It seems fine to me. If I had kids I would let them play games like that too when young, just not games like Saints Row and stuff like that.
What about games like Grand Theft Autos (especially like San Andreas) lol? I have been playing that game too since I was 10.
Do you now think that drugs are okay to do after playing that?
Also, were you one of the more responsible kids growing up, or were you the type to get influenced by your friends easily?
I don't have a problem with people who do drugs unless they are really close to me. Personally, I don't indulge myself in any such activity nor do I appreciate it if any of my friends/acquaintances/relatives do that.
I have been continually told that I am responsible and my friends weren't quite influential to me.
Oh, when I was a kid when there were ratings, nobody cared. I was able to go buy Mortal Kombat and other games myself with no parent required.
Not at all. Neither did my parents. But, of course, they had long since stopped playing games when the rating system became a thing. Edgiest game at the time was, like, Contra.
I was playing gta 5 at 13. People act like if if you play those games at a young age then you get influenced by them. Im still here and not a street hustler.
When buying for myself? No. When buying for other people? The only other people I buy games for are friends that are around my age so... no.
Yes. I've never played anything I wasn't supposed to. My parents bought most of our games anyway, when I was a kid.
I don't think about the ratings when I'm buying a game for myself. But when I'm buying gifts I have to take the age into consideration, I can't buy a M rated game for a 5 year old.
Hell no. I remember playing Fallout 1 when I was 11 and that game was pretty heavy in terms of content.
Games with the greatest restriction were the ones I wanted most
I'm an adult so IDGAF but to be fair I haven't gamed in years.
I never had thank God for older siblings
