Male or Female, what do you think? If someone you know have reincarnated as the opposite gender, would you consider them to be male or female?

This is a character from the currently airing anime called "So I'm a spider, So what?" who used to be a guy but he have reincarnated as a girl. That's where I got this question idea from.

Anyway- if they're reincarnated, it stands to reason they're whatever they are now; if one's soul can have a gender, then what's the point of the gender aspect of physical incarnation?

1. I suppose it would depend on how they seemed. I can see it going either way, and I don't exactly have a lot of precedent to determine how I'd react to something like that. I'd refer to them whichever way they wished, but in terms of how I'd THINK... I'm not sure.
2. That's an interesting question. I was raised in a very egalitarian family that stressed the importance of treating people the same regardless of their gender; it shaped how I interact with people, probably even more than I think. Like pretty much everyone with an ounce of imagination, I've wondered, from time to time, how my life would be different if I'd been the opposite sex. While I suspect most of the difference would come from how people treated me, there are distinct neurological differences between the sexes- and between individuals in general, come to think of it; unless my brain worked the same way as before, I'd probably be totally baffled as to why I'd done the previous things I'd done.
