Why do we scream at concerts?

Happy Sunday! Here's another random ShaTTered question for ya 😂

I've been to quite a few concerts and more times than not I've come home with no voice from screaming my head off all night lol. I was up watching old NSYNC concert videos last night and it made me think. Like who was the first person to scream at a concert? 🤔
I mean I know sometimes the artist will tell the audience to scream but most times they're already screaming. I don't know lol like I said, randomness!!

Attention seeking.
I presume In the past the screams where done when concerts were more intimate.
Instantly it grabs your attention when you're the only screamer.

Excitement... When you're happy excited shocked sometimes there just aren't words but an emotions and the sound that follows can be anything from a sigh gasp to scream or cry.

I have never really had a crush that I thought would be fulfilled if I met the guy.
But when I was at the carnival in Notting Hill. Lloyd came one year. As he finished I saw him walking the path near me so I said his full name loudly and confidently and he instantly turned and looked at me, and stopped said hi, then touched my hand.

My friend next to me tried to grab him so he pulled away and security ushered him on.
I think it didn't hit until a few minutes later and then I let out a silly scream.

No i always make a low “Woo” or i open my mouth wnd pretend im screaming with the crowd. I ain't straining my voice for them hoes lol. Plus they won't be able to hear me over the other thousand voices anyways. I also dont clap lol. I slap my leg or airclap 🤣 Too much work, too much work

I don’t know who was first. But it’s been going on for a long time. As there’s cartoons from the 40s or 50s making fun of it. Probably happened way back in Ancient Greek amphitheater’s.
