I love photography, and I took a big step by getting a new camera. It's just a hobby for me to relax and have fun. I'm still learning, trying to improve my technique. Very nice! I have a background in photography and art and I have little to critique here. Your cropping on 2 and 3 can't really be better. 👌 Great job on those.
I agree with HighlyVolatile, there's something slightly amiss with the first one. It's not easy to see just what that is. I toyed around with it for a minute in Photoshop and here's the cropping I would have done. That palm tree sticking out of the leftmost side put me off a bit, so I removed it. (Which obviously is not done irl.)
It's a very subtle difference. You were right not to cut off any of the lines. I was not limited by camera lens proportions/aspect ratios, which opens up the options enormously. A pronounced or high-ratio-to-centre-and-background foreground will pull the viewer in. But if they are not of visual interest at all, it may also be not adding much and then you throw out the first rule and go by a different rule, which is to crop the extraneous adding little. (This is one of the things about subjective art - you eventually learn WHICH rules to use/apply.) I'm not saying my cropping is far better. Just playing with it a bit.
You are generally using the beauty of your subjects/landscapes to create art. This makes sense, because this is what inspires us initially. But over time, you will advance beyond that, and create a sort of unique, or even perhaps haggard, brutalist, ["ruthless", right HV?] beauty out of the typically not-beautiful. You can do this by your angles, exaggerating or emphasizing light and shadow, using texture as the main point of interest... etc etc.
The main thing I give you credit for here is knowing the power of lines. It's typically best not to interrupt a line, but to follow it through, or let it fade, which you clearly know well already. It was wise to weight the boat picture as you did, so that the boat has 'room to breathe', to leave, so to speak. So kudos for that.
Depending on your equipment, I'd now suggest to you to begin playing with angles (where you crouch, point the lens, etc. - your vantage point), do a variety of close-ups and zoom-ins, not just all wide shots. And remember that the eye goes first to the lightest parts of a photo (white always wins), and darkness recedes. And red is your punctuation point. Red doesn't 'play well with others.' Whether you like it or not, it will become the focus or most seen, so place it consciously.

I don't know how to thank you, but thank you so much! You can't know how valuable those comments are for me. Actually, I have a long story of my photography journey. It was my dream, I used to take photos with my mobile phone. Then I've bought my first professional, mirrorless camera a few months ago. I started to study fundamentals of photography. I know something theoretically but I need to practice more to digest these concepts. It's not that easy to apply theories in practice. When I first grabbed my camera and wanted to shoot some, I was literally stuck. Then I began figuring it out little by little as I go out to take photos. But I still have long way to go. The first photo has been taken when I first went out to try my camera. I even didn't know how to edit it to get a better view. But I don't say my latest photos are perfect :D I'm just trying, and enjoying :) I'm an engineer, and working from home. Photography makes me relaxed and it helps me stay mentally fit. I have fun taking photographs. That's what I've been looking for. However, I do want to be better at what I'm doing. Your knowledge and experience are obviously far beyond my skills. I feel lucky that you dropped your message here. I generally like to take wide angle landscape photos, I haven't discovered narrow angles and different perspectives yet. But I do want to discover, and try what I can't see currently. I know it'll take some time and it requires so much practice. Since I don't need to rush now, I'm trying enjoy the moment everytime I pressed the shutter :D I'm trying get good compositions essentially, and I want the photo to have a subject, a story, a feeling. Furthermore, I like patterns and rhytym of views. I try to find reflections, external frames and some other details to emphasise the depth of field. But it doesn't mean I can do these properly :D Would you mind if I followed you? I'd like to show my other photos if you want too.
Of course you can follow me. 💐 I'm not on the site as much these days. I've got a lot going on in my life. But if I can I will respond again in the future. Talking about art is something I try to always make time for. You're doing well. None of it will be time wasted. Followed! :) I hope everything is all right there. I've been in music, and been playing my instrument since my childhood. Thus, I managed to improve my ears significantly but visual arts are something I'm not familiar with. I feel like I'm in a new city and I'm trying to get used to it, the local people, culture, etc. :) I tend to approach arts with a technical standpoint and formulate things as much as possible because I'm an engineer. But it's art, and I know I can't do it well without getting out of the box. That's the challenge now. I feel your support and help with me, I'm thankful to you! I hope I can help you with anything as well. :)
It was great to hear from you! Turning my online exhibition into a physical one would also be interesting. I actually have more, and I'll produce more. But increasing the quality is the point I should pay attention at the same time.

generally the exposures seem clean (except the last one which i'll elaborate on).
the first lacks a point of interest in my opinion. it's a great frame for "something" that is missing there. like the notes and their shadow are interesting. but i don't think they are enough to create a "subject" themself.
the second one honestly seems a bit boring. the typical night shot with some lights reflecting in water. seen this many times. it's cool looking but ultimately boring, if there's not some really interesting composition going on.
the third one i would say is the best out of these. I don't know why the left side of the frame seems to have a dark shadow all across it. looks a bit weird. also i personally would try to align the boat with the bottom right corner of the rule of thirds square. i would move the horizon up, cause there's really nothing interesting in the skye there. seems like empty space but not the positive sort of empty space.
As for sharpness, and details, the pictures on here are quite low in resolution to tell :D
I really like the latter two. The first bugs me a bit in terms of the composition. I think it's mostly related to the strong pull to the right as so if you'll forgive mind me marking over it:
I don't know if I managed to communicate anything effective there. But the first pic I find makes my eyes want to sort of fly off the image. That's such a strong pull there that I can't feel like I can really stop and enjoy the scenery.
Hmm, good point. I didn't realise it until you told. I wanted to use the rhythm and repetitive pattern of the trees and the lamps, but I couldn't figure it out that they're also distracting. This was from my first shooting session, one of my first photos :)
I still think you're great! I'm also not sure if I know anything about what I'm talking about! I come from visual art as more of a drawer and painter but analyzing composition was never my strong point, and I might just be guilty of sharing something very subjective and biased on my part.
One thought I'm having -- and please disregard it potentially as one coming from a village idiot in photography -- is that cropping some of the negative space away from the top might help a bit... like so: That makes a powerful diagonal composition like this still let us see a good portion of the picture.
I think you pointed out an important issue. I wasn't aware of that until you told me. I'm now thinking what if I cropped this photo and adjust the composition so that it'd attract the attention to the left...

Your photos show you really have view-hunter eyes :D But there are some problems with focusing in my opinion. Especially the first two ones are too blurry. The depth of field is not clear. But the composition is okay. If they were sharper and RAW, you could get pretty impressive photos.
Oh no no... actually thats on purpose... cuz i was also experimenting blur photos so this is not something I don't know haha... i like it thats why... i have plenty of blur collection haha
the second and third are good the first could use a little bit of improvement with lightroom or photoshop elements or photoshop. The lighting in the first one which i know you can't control could be adjusted in post production making it a bit brighter and adjusting the color saturation in photoshop or photoshop elements. But the second and third are good. The problem with Fujifilm cameras are they're about half a stop to a whole stop lower then they should be. If i was going to invest in fujifilm cameras i would of gone with the medium format camera gfx 100s or gfx 100 or gfx 50s or gfx 50s ii or gfx 50r depending on what your budget is and what your budget allows for. also try to avoid zoom lenses as much as possible and stick with prime lenses when ever possible. There's a whopping difference between zoom and prime which i've noticed quite often.

Really nice. Good composition. The first pic shows the shadow on the sidewalk. It really makes the picture interesting. The second pic shows the reflection off the water. This is used a lot but I think your use of this effect was very effective. The third pic really made ir seem like I was right on the water on a hot summer evening. I do not know what kind of hardware you used but it works for you.
Same here :D I don't rush, because I've already lots of things that I rush for. I just need some relaxing things and photography is one of them :D No matter how good your photos are, just enjoy shooting. It'll eventually be better little by little :D
