I love all their stuff, some more, some less but every album of theirs is special.
Their music is really one of a kind.
I'm just curious how many people know them and how many actually like their music.
Well…. do you remember that group The Bloodhound Gang from the late 90s? Kind of a goofy novelty act, I think their biggest song was the “you and me, baby, ain’t nothin’ but mammals/So let’s do it like they do on The Discovery Channel” one😂 Anyway, they had a lesser known but funny song called “I Wish I Was Queer So I Could Get Chicks”, lmfao, probably couldn’t get away with that today. The whole thing is pretending to be gay instead of some lame straight dude so women will be attracted to him, hahaha. One of the lines of the song detailing how he’d have to act if he was gay (again, these days…OOF, lmao), he says “Wear my mother’s lingerie, learn the songs of Broadway/And appreciate Depeche Mode and avant-garde ballet”😂😂😂
https://www.youtube.com/embed/4MgxF_tCmzkSo anyway, I was like 17 when that came out, and while I’ve never been a homophobe, I was absolutely caught up in the whole hyper-masculine facade shit at that age, so as soon as I heard that, I never wanted to ever hear a Depeche Mode song in my lifetime.
But it’s 2022, I have a broader mind than 25 years ago, so go ahead and lace me with some recommendations. Sell me on Depeche Mode, I’ll give them a shot. If we’re still talking about them all these years later, there must be something to it.
Yeah know them very well.
Saw them in concert before.
There’s a new game
We like to play you see
A game with added reality
You treat me like a dog
Get me down on my knees
We call it master and servant
We call it master and servant
It’s a lot like life
This play between the sheets
With you on top and me underneath
Forget all about equality
Let’s play master and servant
Let’s play master and servant
It’s a lot like life
And that’s what’s appealing
If you despise that throwaway feeling
From disposable fun
Then this is the one
Domination’s the name of the game
In bed or in life
They’re both just the same
Except in one you’re fulfilled
At the end of the day
Let’s play master and servant
Let’s play master and servant
Let’s play master and servant
Come on master and servant
Sure, some of them I like off the top of my head
Enjoy the Silence
Personal Jesus...
Never Let Me Down Again
A Question of Lust

Honey I was alive and remember when they were very popular. They were one of the best bands from the 1980’s. I get very nostalgic whenever I listen to them, music was just very different back then. Not only were Depeche Mode a European band that had managed to gain widespread appeal in America, you sort of have to remember that the Cold War was still very much going on then. The Soviet Union was in power and the Berlin Wall was still up. It was just a very different time. Memories.
I can't imagine being without them, they're my favorite band and their music is just so different, special and original.
I wish I'd find myself a boyfriend who appreciates them just as much as I do, it would be great. Music gets people together.
Prepare yourself for the very real possibility that your future children will think that everything you like is stupid, boring, ancient, ridiculous, and definitely not cool. Even Depeche Mode. If you expect them to grow up being carbon copies of you, they will rebel in very palpable and gut wrenching ways. Being a good parent means that you support your children while they find their own niche in life.
Believe it or not some the younger generations have a unusual appreciation for the music that came out from the late 60s to 90s. Something special about that time period. It was an anomaly
Went to a tears for fears concert Friday, they did a cover of personal Jesus.
Tears for fears are also amazing. :)
I own every CD and several LPS that I bought in the 80s. I also own all of Vince Clark's other work - Yazoo/Yaz and Erasure.
I've also seen them in concert twice.
yes, I do...
and good, great memories to this one...
I know of them.
A girl I liked loved them... and she turned me down for a date, so being a petty immature twerp I automatically didn't like Depeche Mode.
I'll look into them and hopefully give you a better informed opinion.
I know them, I've seen them live a few times and I am listening them atm while wasting my time here :D
Yeah, they were pretty kool in the late 80's. I also remember KMFDM in the early 90's!
Those were also very cool. I do like to listen to some of their songs from time to time.
I know some of their songs and they are good.
Precious and Enjoy the Silence are probably my favorite.
I love new wave and industrial music, they're one of my first favorites. I especially love their 2nd album. Really underrated for some extremely odd reason.
Never heard of them, when it comes to music preferences inherited from family.. My dad went to metallica concerts, so that explains some, lol
It was popular in the late 80s , only listened to a few of their songs
They were great band of the best era of music 1980's.
I know OF them but I'm not so sure I've ever HEARD them.
The name sounds very familiar but haven’t heard enough their music to make a decision
I know the name and probably some of their songs without knowing it's from them.
I give in…again and again…I give in Strangelove…
I grew up in the next town to where they are from.
No I don’t. Would you please DM me I have a question for you but I can’t DM you.
