Rings of Power: Your thoughts?

As I'm waiting for episode 6 of House of the Dragon, a show I'm incidentally really into, I thought I would give Rings of Power a go at my girlfriend's last night.

I'm no LOTR uber-fan, but the original trilogy was a huge part of my childhood.

Anyway, as the intro is playing, I'm sitting there excited about what's to come and my girlfriend giggles, looks at me, and says 'This is ****'.

I asked her why she thought that and she replied 'Well the CGI is pretty good, but by God, the acting is awful... so static and robotic - Galadriel has no facial expressions whatsoever, she genuinely looks constipated'

She even had a remark for the snow-troll scene: 'Oh, come on...'

I'm going to keep watching it, but I'm nowhere near excited about it as the originals. I'm not glued to my seat. I'm really struggling to follow the story as it jumps from the elves, to the dwarves, back to the elves, to the dwarves, to the half-foots, to the elves, etc...

The dialogue is horrendous.

What are your thoughts?

It's just poorly written. It could be so much better. But it's just bad.

I just really hate the fact that they put genuine criticism in the same boat as the very minority of racist pricks.

Truth is, RoP has had a very bad start. Nothing of note has really happened. Galadriel is already some kind of boss... so it's hard to see how her character arc will develop. Some of the characters are plain dull with no consistency.

I'm trying hard to get into it, but that first episode almost killed it.

Preaching to the choir. I could care less about the races of the actors.. The writing is just so bad.. I felt the same about star trek discovery.

We are saving up the episodes to binge watch, saw 3 so far. I like it.
