Not exactly local, but 2 town's over. Not even sure how it survives, though. I already own nearly every CD I've ever wanted (over 3000), and frankly, it's so rare that I like any new music that I have no need to keep up with current stuff.
I used to spend hours going through the used CDs, but eBay allowed me to track down all of the rare stuff on my list, so I only drop in to the store every couple of years.
I would love to have some new music from bands that don't think 28 layers of reverb can replace talent.
No unfortunately
Yeah. It does. Because I like old music and recordeds
Those good old days. Iād play a cd track or cassette and listen to it drowning out all the noise. And also meeting up people there I met online 🤣.
Fortunately we do, and we're actually buying vinyl records now!

Although CDs are not my favorite media, as that is the most easiest to find, I buy l them a lot. I used to collect tapes sinces the 80s but I stopped around 2005. I still believe vinyl sounds better but i never owned a record player.
One main reason I buy CDs is that I only listen to full albums. I dislike randon music and I stay away from Radio, playlists etc UNLESS i am listening to a compilation CD.
One caveat however. I never buy a new CD. The quantity I buy, I would never pay $15-25 for a CD. I only buy used at Flea Markets, Thrift stores, or sometines Amazon.
We have several record stores here in the Kansas City metro area. I've gone into some of them. Seems there is a new revival for vinyl. I was visiting my youngest daughter in her home a few weeks ago and she approached me with about 500 45 records. I thought I'd died and went to heaven with all these small single albums put on 45 vile records. My grandchildren who are in their teens came over and they went through some of the old records. My grandchildren loved the music. They thought it was quite nostalgic.
Some of them are Gladys Knight, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana brass. Diana Ross and The Supremes. There are also some old western singles also.
We did... it closed down though.
there's still thrift stores and a dedicated vinyl store but it isn't the same.
The old place was independantly owned since the 60s. But the owner died with no one to take over so... another one bites the dust.
When I lived in GA I had one near me for the last year I was there. The shop owner got to know me personally and when she got new vinyl in she would hold some she thought I'd like aside away from the sale shelves for me. She was always so sweet. Now where I live, record stores are over an hour away smh.
The nearest independent one is around six miles away. by the way I still collect singles from the 60s 70s & 80s. Occasionally me and my friends host a vinyl night. On average around 10 us attend and me all bring 6 singles each and take turns to play them whilst enjoying a few drinks and snacks.
I'll post you an invite to our next one if you like 🤣👍🤣
Had one when I was small. Pirated CDs were sold. It just phased out as internet became more common and music streaming services came into existence after that.
Not any more the last one in my town, an independent, closed shop in the late 90's, If I want to browse a record shop today I'd have to travel 36 miles by bus or train to my nearest city.
Yes down the road from the office. But the best for record shopping are the Sunday flea markets.
We used to have Dees Record Store but I don't know if they still sell records.
Not now there used to be, half the stuff I listen to you couldn't get there anyway.
I had to order it online
All the record stores are gone. People can just download music many times for free so there are no more record stores.
Not like the old days, used to have 275 lp s
