I think that's very nice of the French. France helped America in the Revolution, America helped France in two world wars. Glad we're on the same team.

The melody is nice, but the singer's voice sounds awful!

Didn't a lot of French women get raped by American soldiers though?

It happened, but honestly it happens in every war. But honestly I remember only that my overwhelming majority of American soldiers were heroes that helped my country. ๐
You are exaggerating for Michel Sardou's voice, he is a very great singer here in France, he sold more than 100 million albums he can't be that bad lol ๐ - 1 y
Then you must be one of the few foreigners who thinks so๐ I am surprised you love America/Americans so much, just like you're surprised I love the French๐ Most Europeans get annoyed that Americans take too much credit for WWII.
Simon Cowell might beg to differ๐ - 1 y
Haha, well despite the fact that the relationship between the Anglo-Saxons and France has often been very tense, I actually have a lot of respect for what the English and Americans have accomplished. And I will always be grateful for the help to carry.
It doesn't mean that the Anglo-Saxons don't annoy me sometimes, I always have the impression that they are always plotting against France ๐ (this is a joke)
I find the anti-American feelings very often ridiculous, and really very hateful. It will never be my feeling and when I express an opinion I always express it or try to express it with respect.
On the other hand don't ask me to be impartial for my period which goes from 1680-1815 , my feeling for this period is very anti-English ๐๐ - 1 y
Honestly, I wouldn't blame you as long as it's not over the top, but there is a difference between criticism and blatant hatred. I only recently realized how bitter a lot of Europeans are towards Americans, and what drives me nuts is they complain about the smallest things when there are many aspects of their own society that need improvement. A lot of Europeans have this notion of superiority, that THEIR way is the right way! Don't get me wrong, a lot of American people are the same, but I feel Americans are more open-minded. But Europeans are very hypocritical. They can dish criticism but can't take it. I feel sometimes it stems from jealousy too, especially in Eastern Europe. But I have found that the cultures who boast the most are the shittiest, while the most sophiscocated and pleasant ones are the ones who keep their mouth shut. An awesome person will never boast about how awesome they are.

There was a Russian couple on our tour in Turkey who were trash talking America the whole time. Now the tides have tuned on them and it's hard to feel sorry for them. I myself am Polish and even seeing/hearing a Polish person makes my stomach turn. Poles who live abroad are fine, but Poles who live in Poland are so hypocritical and nationalistic. I've lost respect for my own Slavic brothers in general. Europeans just have a different attitude, and from my personal experience, the majority of Europeans aren't nice people, aside from the French, Greeks, Brits and maybe Irish. At least from the ones I've interacted with. In other countries the more what in the states we would call "Left Leaning" ones, tend to be friendlier, even though I disagree with their politics. Like in Italy, the cities that voted against Meloni had much friendlier people.
But I saw it in Italy and Malta recently. The French and English tourists were so polite, while Germans you could say "excuse me" and they would just stand there. And Italians would push you, or drive their mopeds/segways inches from your foot. And Catalans only cared about your money. Don't even get me started on Slovaks.
I've been to over a dozen European countries and French, English and Greek people are the friendliest by far! The only thing I will compliment Polish people on, is they are more sociable than other Europeans.
I do like French music, but mostly with female singers. Though There are some Quebecois songs sung by men that I really like - 1 y
Though to be completely fair, seeing how some Americans behave in other countries, I'm not surprised their so disliked, but some Europeans are no better

The only bad interactions I've had with French people, were the ones from came there from North Africa, because they always have one foot still stuck in the Motherland

Again, as far as I am concerned, I have a lot of respect for the United States for what it has brought to the world, and the help it has given us.
I think the world would be a worse place without the U. S. That doesn't mean the U. S. is perfect, but no nation in the world is perfect.
I think that most people in every country are generally nice and courteous, but unfortunately a bad experience in a foreign country can completely distort that. For example, when you were traveling in France, if you came across disrespectful people, you would have hated France, while the majority of French people are generally very well behaved.
And it's not because I meet an American who behaves badly, for example, that I would make a generalization and judge all Americans as being people who behave badly.
Those who come from North Africa, spend their time criticizing France lol.
For the Quebecois I appreciate them a lot, but their French and their accent is horrible ๐ - 1 y
Merci, I appreciate that. Not everyone thinks American imperialism is a good thing, but I agree a lot of the same people who are whining are also repeating the benefits of what the U. S. has brought to the world. I will say this though, visiting as a tourist is different then living here. But I will say in terms of tourist friendliness, we are probably number 1 in the world. There are a lot of things tourists have to deal with in other countries, that they don't have to worry about here. Maybe places like New Zealand and some of the British and French islands in the Caribbean are better, but we are in Top 5 for sure.
I won't deny that. There's a saying, "Two is a coincidence, three is a pattern." If there is one thing that will ruin a place for me, is the people. Assholeness and narcissism, I can still wave my hand at. But I will never respect liars and robbers or people who treat me differently because of my race/nationality.
But you are completely right, because the people completely ruined Italy, Turkey and East Asia for me. Because they were otherwise, amazing places.
Honestly, I'd have for respect for a mugger then a scammer, because at least the mugger is honest about who he is and what his intentions are. But I will never respect liars.
I think it's human nature to think in generalizations. Also, I spent much more time in places than the average tourist and I get off the tourist path a lot, so in the Caribbean especially, I tend to see and experience things that the average tourist doesn't. But I can't stand when people undermime me simply because they had a different experience.
Thinking back now, one incident I can be like, "Eh..." But as I said before, 2 is a coincidence, 3 is a pattern. I can be neutral, but if I really HATE something I will trash the hell out of it, and if I LOVE something I will praise the hell out of it and defend it with passion. And like with Italy and Turkey, it wasn't just one incident.

Yes, I know. There's a Quebecois YouTuber who goes to France and talks to people in Quebecois dialect and it amazes me how the same language can sound so different in another part of the world. Arabic is probably the worst. Levantian Arabic and Maghrebi Arabic are practically another language.
Spanish too. Most people who learned Mexican Spanish, can go to countries like Argentina and Cuba and not understand a word. At that point, I don't think you should call it a dialect, but a separate language.
I actually asked a question. Gimmie a second - 1 y
Well I think the world would go back to a certain cahos without the "American policeman".
I understand your opinion on the different countries you have visited, and from what you describe to me I understand why you can form such a strong opinion.
For the language, in fact each French region has different accents lol - 1 y
You think so? Because recent historic events should make you feel the opposite, but to each their own. LOL
WWII was a different matter as it involved us. That was the last time that Americans actually fought for THEIR freedom. Korea was the last example of a U. S. military intervention that achieved successful results. You could argue Kuwait, Grenada and the Balkans. But Kuwait, Sadam was an ally before we intervened in Kuwait. Grenada, half the island still supports Maurice Bishop and is bitter towards the US, and in the Balkans, Kosovo's existence is only creating problems in the region and only lead to tensions with Serbia and Slovenia.

No song will get soldiers back to life, who bit the dust for their ''leaders''.
We need protest songs early much more than obituary songs late.
