As it says on the tin. And how was the experience?
Given that I work in politics, mostly I have met political figures. How much they would be known to a general audience I cannot say.
However, in that group I have met four Presidents - Mr. Reagan, Mr. George H. W. Bush, Mr. Clinton and Mr. George W. Bush. For whatever reason, I never met Mr. Obama, Mr. Trump or the current President Biden.
As far as the experience, it is always pretty neat when you meet the President. Come what may. The longest conversation was with President George H. W. Bush at an event at the White House. (I also met First Lady Barbara Bush at the same event, which was a White House "picnic" for Congressional staffers.)
Suffice to say that they were extremely pleasant and both had a gift for making you, during the conversation, feel like you were the most interesting person they ever met. That never hurts.
Also, in terms of President Bush Sr., I was one time called to a meeting in the White House - with my boss (a Member of the House of Representatives) - with Mr. Bush's Chief of Staff John Sununu. That was a little more uncomfortable and my boss was trying to make amendments - though not defeat - a piece of legislation that President Bush wanted to sign. (My boss and President Bush were both Republicans.)
Suffice to say, that was a wee bit uncomfortable. Although the story has its' funny side.
It was a Friday and on Fridays typically the House is not in session and so staff come in dressed in casual clothes. However, as my boss was still in town - he was due to leave for his district in Florida later in the afternoon - I wore a shirt and tie and dress pants but opted to leave my jacket at home.
So when the call came in that morning that Mr. Sununu wanted to see my boss - and that I would be going along - I freaked. I went to my immediate boss - a very good man - who was the Legislative Director - I was a Legislative Assistant at that time - I said, "Big trouble!! I don't have a jacket!!! What do I do?"
The Legislative Director said, "Don't worry, we can handle this." Then he thought a minute and said, "Just wear my jacket!!"
Small problem - my LD was about a head taller than I am. However, if you don't have a choice, you don't have a problem. So I went to a West Wing meeting in the White House to discuss an important piece of legislation wearing a business jacket about a size larger than myself. Sleeves dangling off the ends of my arms.
Thus, was history made!!!
Beyond that, although President Reagan was - and remains - my favorite by far. The meeting I was most excited about was with the conservative columnist and writer, George F. Will. His book, "Statecraft as Soulcraft," was a profound influence on my own thinking and happily, I have been able to meet him several times over the course of my career, including once in his home office.
Those meetings - and the brief meeting with President Reagan (it was the last year of his presidency) - remain among my fondest memories. I have met other figures - particularly in the political realm - and my biggest regret is never having gotten to meet British Prime Minister, the late Lady Margaret Thatcher - but the meetings with Mr. Will and Mr. Reagan top the list.

Music-wise - the dad of the family a few houses down from me growing up was the head of security for Bill Graham Presents, the largest music promoter in the Bay Area. I used to mow his lawn and wash his cars, and when I was 11 or 12, he got me hired to clean up the backstage area at concerts. This was before plastic water bottles were common (hard to believe, right?), so if the bands and roadies weren't drinking whiskey right from the bottle, they were drinking water out of plastic or paper (or sometimes styrofoam) cups, and the stage and backstage would be littered with them, along with plates and towels. Anyway, I cleaned up after all that, and saw lots of bands, including 60s bands that I'd at that point never heard of - the Doobie Brothers, the Allman Brothers, etc. - but many 70s and early 80s bands that were big too.
I also grew up being close friends with a group of brothers who were in a rock band - the youngest brother (lead singer/bass player) is 6 days younger than me. When we were 13, they made a music video and sent it in to an MTV amateur video contest, and they ultimately won the grand prize, and spend the next 5 years opening for major acts. I got invited to a lot of those shows, and met lots of bands. I played ping pong with Mike Love from the Beach Boys, I ate lunch with Chris de Berg, and I played Peter Frampton's guitar during a soundcheck. Eddie Money became friends with my friends' band, and was looking to manage them for a while before his "comeback" album hit so big and he ended up touring instead, but he came to several local shows as a special guest, and I got to meet him a couple of times.
Nearly every time I've ever flown out of (or back to) San Francisco, there's at least one celebrity on my plane - and they're rarely recognized in SF for some reason. I've had extended conversations with many musicians, actors, and athletes while waiting for luggage to be unloaded and to hit the carousel. I've met both Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner (Mr. Data) from Star Trek TNG on different flights, Dwight Clark of the 49ers, Brandon Belt of the Giants, Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows, Huey Lewis, John Madden, and Cheech Marin.
I used to run into Mark McGuire (Oakland A's) so often at Tower Records that he started asking me for music advice. At least once or twice a month for almost 2 years.
I'm sure I'm forgetting about many others. I can't remember her name now, but when I was doing commercial videography, one of the actresses doing a commercial ended up on either CSI or Law & Order - one of those crime shows. I worked with a lot of models and up-and-coming actors/actresses back then - a few of whom found some bigger success.
Oh, in my early teens, with my parents, we ran into Clint Eastwood at his (then) restaurant in Carmel - The Hogg's Breath Inn. He took a picture with my mother. I met an astronaut in Atlanta one time who went up in the shuttle.
It's really not that hard to meet people if you're in big cities where they tend to be a lot, and especially if you are in hotels or airports. They tend to travel a whole lot.

Carrie Fisher i was totally star struck, Tom felton he was super sweet and down to earth, Will Friedle believe it or not he did a small Feeny call for me, Aaron Carter he brought me on stage. Beat moment of my life, Pat kordyback fast meet and greet, Aaron Pritchett also fast meet and greet, Victoria Beckham one of the nicest celebrities I have ever met, Grant Gustin we didn't officially meet. He came out of his trailer with his underwear on. They were filming at the barn where I kept my horse. I smiled and walked away, Mr. Kim got him to take a photo of me with storm troopers not realizing who he was. Then later he came to hangout at my booth I was working at. I asked him for a photo and apologized to him for being so oblivious earlier. He's a cool guy he had a good laugh about it. Neal McDonough I use to cut his kids hair all the time. He has such a sweet family. His wife is amazing too. Merkules I used to cut his dad's hair,
Brent Seabrook- cut his dad's hair
The guy in the red shirt of the 1st scary movie cover (can't remember his name lol ) I use to cut his sons hair also.24 Reply- +1 y
Can't believe Aaron died. :(
+1 yA few and I actually have somebody famous in my family.
Gloria Trevi is one of my aunts. I'm probably a bit biased since she's a relative, but she's quite humble and personable for somebody who's been dubbed Mexico's Madonna and has sold millions of albums worldwide.
Besides that, I've met a few celebs at SXSW Austin.
Robert Rodriguez (film director) is always awesome to be around and talk to, he's clearly passionate about filmmaking and music.Rosario Dawson was an absolute doll, and of the few celebs I've met she's definitely the friendliest and most down-to-earth.
Phoebe Bridgers- total bitch. Overgrown spoiled princess. I'm not going to go into too much detail, but my run-in with her ruined the whole event for me this year. Clearly a sociopath.10 Reply

When I was nine years old, JFK shook my hand.
When I was a kid, I met Mel Torme and Cliff Robertson at monthly aero historian meetings that my dad use to take me to.
I met Buddy Rogers (star) and William Wellman (director) from the movie Wings that won the very first Academy Award for Best Picture in 1929.
I also met some famous pilots like Frank Tallman, Bob Hoover and Chuck Yeager.
I met Chuck Norris when he did a personal appearance at my grammar school.
I got to hang out with Roger Glover (the bass player for Deep Purple) backstage at a concert. I also spoke to Rory Gallagher, Martin Barre (guitarist for Jethro Tull), and Robin Trower. I had drinks with Jimmy Witherspoon. These are just a few of the musicians I've met.
I met David Crosby, Steven Stills and Graham Nash at a celebrity brunch. I met David Carradine at the same brunch, but he was kind of a snot.
I met Wolfman Jack at a club.
I was acquaintances with Toby Halicki who wrote, directed and starred in the original Gone in 60 Seconds. He was an amazing guy
I bumped into Richard Thomas (John Boy from Little House on the Prairie) while he was browsing around a Renaissance Fair.
I met Grace Slick in a cafe in Venice, Ca.
I met Efrem Zimbalist Jr,. James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Carrie Fisher, Orson Bean, and Danny Elfman when I had to inspect the damage on their cars for my job in the 80s.
I had dinner with Randy Hanson (renown Jimi Hendrix impersonator) at a friend's house.
I met and spoke to Jimmy Dore and his wife, Stefane Zamorano.
I met and spoke to General Michael Flynn.
I was friends with Bruce U. Utah Phillips and even played a gig with him.
In my late teens or early 20s, I was in a band with a guy who was installing a car stereo system for Dan Haggerty (Grizzly Adams). We went to his house. He invited us inside and was super nice.
There are many celebrities that I am not recalling, some more famous that others.14 Reply- +1 y

I met Tom Wilson in college, otherwise known as Biff from Back to the Future. I've never been so disappointed to not be called a butthead.
I met all the members of Alter Bridge when I got a backstage pass to their show in 2014. All really cool guys, no egos whatsoever. I got to shake Mark Tremonti's hand and tell him he inspired me to play guitar. "Ah, thanks, man!" And inside, I'm just like "'Man!' He called me 'man', like we're friends or something!"
I've met various players of the Kansas City Chiefs. I've ran into Harrison Butker a handful of time. We even follow each other on Instagram (we're both Traditionalist Catholics). Fun story, the week of my wedding, we hadn't yet found an altar server. I messaged him on IG and asked if he would. He said that had he not been out of town, he would have gladly done it. He's a stellar man.
And I don't know if he's "famous", but I have twice met Cardinal Raymond Burke. I would be quite glad to see him elected the pope. A rousing powerhouse of charisma, he is not. However, he is more energetic than he appears, and he is a very intelligent, humble, and pious man.
There are others, but those are the most significant ones to me.
00 Reply Yes, I have met many celebrities growing up. Some were friends of my older brother, and some were colleagues of my Dad, some I met before they were famous, and some I interacted with at different gatherings.
The biggest celebrity I met from the US, if you are an American, is President James Earl Carter. I also met Niles Rogers who I think is really big in the music business. There are any others but yeah. I have met many celebrities growing up.
I was infact taught by a celebrity as well.
But this celebrity is not one every one finds interesting but many respect.10 Reply- 2.7K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic.
+1 yI've met three famous pastors that were on TV or live video and I've met a few authors that might have been famous. I also think I might have seen a boys band I liked at a local park when they were in Canada. There was no confirmation I did not make an error. There was a celebrity who died years ago with the same name as somebody I knew from high school and same age too, I do not know if it is the same person. I also took high school classes with a guy who became an actor, I saw one of his performances at a theatre.

I was like 5 and I was a big fan of hers because she was winning everything and she had a cool name too :P. She was so charming and nice to me. My mom took a picture of me and her back when people used film lol. I should take a picture of that photo once so I can have it digitally as well :). She's the only celebrity I ever got to meet up close and interact with, I've seen some famous people or been like in the vicinity but I didn't get to meet or talk to any of them.

That's awesome! I was a big fan of hers back in the day. Wasn't she in the Sydney Olympics?
Yes. I've met many. Most celebrities are awful.
I hated Taylor Swift and Katy Perry for a while when I was working in music security. I once had to guard Donald Glover's bus while he f*cked groupies on his Childish Gambino tour. I had to deal with that piece of sh*t Demi Lovato back in 2013 before she went even more crazy and her only "famous" thing was being on The Voice and/or American Idol at the time (I don't know and don't care.) I had to work with Ed Sheeran guarding him, before I knew who he even was back in 2012. And also, a random thing with Sarah Michelle Gellar, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress, when she was on a tour for someone. And I had to work this super-annoying show with the Harry Styles band. One Direction I think? Anyone remember them?
The only "nice" celebrity I remember back then was 4'10" Lady Gaga. Anyone remember Lady Gaga?
04 Reply- +1 y
What was Ed Sheeran like?

@lottiebannotie
He was shy but relatively nice for a celebrity. I legit didn't know who this guy was at the time because he wasn't that famous yet, but years later, when he got more famous, I remember it being the same short ugly Ginger dude with the wall-eyes I worked for before.
There was one dude I didn't work for, but everyone else I worked for said he was the worst guy on Earth. I think it was Bruce Springsteen. Him, Mariah Carey, and Jennifer Lopez (none of which I worked with or met) were all called the worst of the worst. Mariah Carey supposedly even makes her handlers buy bags of M&Ms, put on latex gloves, and separate them all into different colors in different bowls and she'd only eat the green ones, but liked looking at the other ones. So yeah, compared to Mariah Carey, Sheeran was an angel. - +1 y
Great thanks I always felt he came across as a nice guy but you never know until you deal with someone directly and I would like to apologise on behalf of my country for exporting one direction 🤢
Yes. I grew up in the same area as them, so I met Mason and Taylor Dye like a decade ago. Friends with them on Facebook because of tons of mutual friends, but I don't know them personally or anything. Just almost took a stray dog Taylor had found and was trying to find a good home for. So barely even acquaintences. Baylee Rae who was on The Voice dated my buddy for a while, but once again, I barely met her (and she isn't super famous... yet). It almost seems like meeting me is a great way to become famous one day lmao

I met Ray Harryhausen, who was a big influence on my life. He worked on a lot of movies with stop motion animation; a lot of "B Movies," but some well known films as well...
I met Nancy Cartwright. We both geeked out about Brad Bird (animator/Director/voice actor who worked on the Simpsons, and she hadn't met) because she noticed my Incredibles shirt. I like a lot of her work, and she's always come across as a genuinely kind person.00 ReplyYes, a few have attended funerals at our place.

Tell us more, what did he do?
u +1 yShelton was loud, demanding, and disruptive. Funerals are about the family and to honor the deceased, not strut celebrity and make demands. He didn’t like the seating, he didn’t like the length of the service. I ended up telling him to dial it down or he would be asked once to leave. If he persisted I would summon the knuckle draggers.
